To Post on LinkedIn Pulse, or to Send an Update?
I received a comment from a LinkedIn friend, recently, suggesting one of my posts was too short (a first, for me) to be used in Linked Pulse as an article (a 'long-form post'), rather than just as an Update (a 'short-form post').
This is my response.
"I could certainly say just as much as this, With a much, much longer post.
Maybe a thousand words, you missed....those I have not yet wrote.
But, alas! I've been taken to task, of late, for articles too verbose.
So that is why, though I hear your cry, I offered this 'too short' post."

Your point is well-stated. What's not to like?
No longer using Linked in as of 20th May 2021 - Thanks for the 7 years here to everyone. Learned much from you all on the way.
9 年IMHO I challenge people to think for themselves, since following can lead to a pathway called "learned helplessness", at the same time if it is solely about policing how one uses LinkedIn I would say nothing as a way of moving on. Isn't it odd that people who wants more will say so little about asking for more and people who want little will say more about asking for less? What this requires is a sense of humour rather than thoughtful consideration which you exercised - and to think this could have inspired a stream of consciousness also but tonight alas mine is only a tiddy-bitty-IMHO update.

9 年Less is more Charles David U.. Thank you!
Using my proven knowledge/expertise in Administration to the advantage of a Great Employer. Unfluencer??
9 年Well this one has at least enough words to make you read it and understand what is going on. But sometimes I do wonder why someone would create a post where all they put is a link to another document - nothing else - just a title and a link. An update would be far more efficient - and probably garner more views. This is probably a debate that could go on and on. But perhaps you were also receiving a back-handed compliment - the writer of the comment was looking forward to reading more of your material.

9 年It does not cease to amaze me Charles David U. people getting involved on what others do in LI. I would not know, for certain, whether it is because you write about ways of improving engagement or just by the sheer fact people love to get mixed up on somebody else's business but it does give me the creep to witness such a thing from taking place.! Odd utterly and simply Odd 'Thanks'
