Post GDPR state of confusion about sending a marketing email from your business

Since the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) businesses just like yours have been in a state of confusion about email marketing following the regulations implementation on 25 May.

You might have worried about the legality of sending emails to your existing contact list in case you needed to, once again, obtain consent to send that email.

Having maybe been bombarded with conflicting advice from many different sources it is easy to have overlooked taking the most important action of all.

Which is if your business sends marketing emails you must pay a data protection fee to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

If you are already registered as a data controller you do not have to pay this new fee until your current registration has expired.

If you haven't registered yet, find out more:

https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/data-protection-fee/

The ICO have overall responsibility for enforcing GDPR in the UK and this fee goes towards their running costs.

Some dictionaries state that the opposite of worry is mindfulness. Others go as far as using the word playfulness.

My hope is that by taking this one important action; it will leave you free to focus on growing your business.
