Gaza for the past 9 months has been contested and fought within. It has been the center of political, social, and cultural discourse, not just in the middle east but around the globe. What lays ahead however, may be just as important as what is currently occurring.
The dismantlement of the head leadership of Hamas, may have brought a glimpse of hope for the global community, but those within are most certainly, just as fearful. Whilst world protests echo “Free Free Palestine”, the Palestinians referred to and those who chant, should be more fearful about the lack of governance that may occur should or when this war concludes.
Gaza has a dangerous opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Somalia, Libya and Yemen and other states that experience humanitarian crises post conflict.
Such internal conflict including chronic criminality, surges of frantic refugees, a distorted economy and widespread unemployment all symptoms of post conflict vacuums.

While foreign assistance is vital for Gaza residents to survive daily, it also carries future hazards for any administration operating there. External aid has the potential to corrupt governments by reducing their accountability and responsibility for their own citizens.
Volatile government terrain finds questions of challenges, including what is fundamentally more important; state and political sovereignty or international communal interests protecting those in harm, moreover, lay Palestinians in Gaza would be unable to stop officials from embezzling funds and exploiting their position.
The Israel and Hamas war may close this chapter of the longstanding war and coercion.
However, the next chapter very may well end up being an extension, by virtue of post conflict symptom. For the purpose of long term stability, the U.S., Europe and Western allies should focus on the danger of a governmental vacuum, a scary prosper for the region, its citizens and the global population.
