Post Game Analysis at Dell

Building Lasting Relationships at Dell Technologies | Small Business Marketer
This summer was one the best summers I have had in a long time regarding personal development. After finishing the Dell internship, I have grown so much and not just as a professional, but as a friend, brother, boyfriend, and leader. Now I have five takeaways from the Dell Inside Sales Excellence Academy that makes it one of the best sales development internships you can be a part of.
1.???Dell provides the technical skill building every Sales intern craves to have on their resume.
As a college student who has read about 300 sales internship applications and read the qualifications for any sales internship. They always seem to say experience in salesforce is required. With this Sales Internship, I gained a lot of experience in Salesforce and Dell's specific sales applications. In the first to second week we received great coaching from James Lane at the very beginning of how and where to navigate Salesforce. Over the course of this internships my mentors, managers, and project involved practicing with and using salesforce. That was a part I did struggle with, but with your coworkers and managers everyone is so willing to help you learn.
2. Dell offers great workforce transformation as an Intern and as a Full-Time Employee.
I was able to do my internship from anywhere. I was able to perform in my internship in San Marcos Texas one week and back in Orange, Texas the next. I also had managers that were super understanding with the struggles of daily life. My power probably went out 4 times during the internship and I let my managers know and they understood accidents happen. I was also able to connect with my coworkers all across America anywhere there was internet. Dell also had Wi-Fi reimbursements for interns to make the internship happen despite not being in person. I also got to connect with mentors who were staying away somewhere else instead of in their home office, because they had somewhere else to be or just wanted to.
3. Dell's honestly with it's workers and mentees is like no other.
I would ask some pretty tough questions some days and each question would get answered. I never once felt uncomfortable asking questions to my manager and mentors. I believe working at a place with great communication and honesty is already a healthy environment for success. My coworkers as well would ask great questions and they would always be answered. Even if the question wasn't answered correctly the first time, by the second time you will have the answer you were looking for. Everyone is so helpful and open. Everyone at Dell wants to you to succeed and they don't mind helping you get to where you want to be. My managers were amazing at following up with answers as well. If they didn't know, they would get back to me either that day or the next.
4. Dell's culture of teamwork is no joke.
Like I said in the last paragraph, Dell wants you to succeed. Everyone they hired on as an intern from all across the U.S. was truly the best of the best. The Recruiters at Dell know how to hire a solid person with great character. The team I was a part of, each and everyone had their accomplishments, but their character and hearts were the best part about them. They were a joy to work with, and each of them brought something different to the table. There many times, where I knew I could paint boundaries around the white space, but I couldn't draw the stars, planets, or sun all by myself. Each and every day my fellow interns brought their best crayon to the table. The multiple teams I have worked with were able to work efferently and produce some stellar work.
5. Dell's not trying to build you as a professional that is stagnant in their progress.
I had meetings with my managers and each and every time we would cover, progress, strengths, opportunities for development, and additional feedback/questions. One of the things I heard during the personal brand week, was be comfortable telling others where you see yourself in the future and where you would like to end up at Dell. For me I see myself maybe as a DCSE or Account Executive in the far future. Your managers, coaches, and coworkers all want you to succeed and there is feedback everywhere. Dell offers SABA courses, Dell's University trainings, Sales pitch competitions, Sandler Training, and so much more of learning new products and techniques. They didn't hire a robot, they hired a motivated person to grow. It's evident at Dell, they want you to not only be the best professional, but citizen on this Earth.
At the end of the day, I gave it my all like I said I would. I am extremely blessed to have this opportunity. I wish everyone in the World could work at Dell, they truly have some Disney magic happening in Round Rock, Nashville, and Oklahoma. If you have any questions, just direct message me and I would love to tell you more. I am not finished yet with Dell. I will be back next Summer at Dell if everything goes according to plan.
