The new Map
We have updated the Org Topologies? map. The most relevant changes are listed below.?Download the new Primer now.
What's new? We don't know what we don't know
As you know, the archetypes are there already, it's just a matter of discovering them. We want to emphasize that the map is not limited to sixteen archetypes and that more archetypes might exist beyond the current map dimensions. That is why we added the gray fading areas on top and to the right of the map and included the "..." captions to indicate uncharted territory.
The vertical axis
In the higher archetypes (B and C levels), we moved away from "Product" to the more generic "Business Area" and "Whole Business". The idea is that the highest adaptivity can be obtained by better understanding the business problems (which might need alternative solutions than the current product offers).
Horizontally, the "Multi-learning Unit" was replaced by the "Fast-flow Unit". This represents better what happens when more capabilities are added to a unit. The effect of multi-learning is not gone. However, this quality is not limited to the horizontal movement but also occurs in the vertical dimension.
Naming the columns
We added an adjective to each vertical to better express the unique qualities of each column. The 0-column is about lonely individuals. The 1-column describes siloed structures. Incomplete in the 2-column highlights the dependency hell, and adding "End-to-end" to column 3 speaks more to our imagination and is less ambiguous than some terms that we used before.
We think our changes to the map have improved the comprehension of the different qualities of each archetype. When processing these changes, the Org Topologies? Primer has been rewritten. We strongly suggest downloading the latest version of our Primer.

A new look and feel with new storylines:
Org Topologies? is a means to an end. Our thinking tool can be of great value in understanding your organizational performance by assessing your level of Business Agility. We have elaborated on these concepts by introducing personas.?

flowcon 2024 in Paris
Paris has been great. We delivered our first French OTP class in association with GOOOD while enjoying French hospitality, croissants, wine, and like-minded people. We love Paris, and Paris loves us back, that's why we scheduled a second edition in October this year. ?
Our talk at Flowcon in Paris was a blast! Speaking there was an excellent opportunity to introduce the second dimension of the scope of work in a world that focuses on flow, the horizontal axis of the Org Topologies? map.
We tried a new approach this time to bringing our content across. Using the personas of our website, we created a storyline that was entertaining and educative at the same time. We think it's our best talk ever! Watch the recording.

New: Duo and Triplet-tickets
We have noticed in previous trainings that participants get greater value when they join the class with one or more colleagues. This allows them to compare and contrast their options when improving their organizational designs. We think this is very valuable, and to support this, we now offer?special prices for duo tickets (saving you 800€) and triple tickets (saving you 1'195€).
Alexey & Roland are wishing you all the best.
