Covid You Suck

Not too long ago I wrote an article called "the New World" where I shared some reflections over what was starting to happen due to the Pandemic that Covid-19 brought upon.
7 Months on, I am a little more reassured that my views were spot on. The length of this, and the unknown extension of this whole crisis brought us all situation that will define who we are and what we are a society, in the years to come.
We have all been impacted by this, and in some way, this has been some sort of "temporary prison time" for many us, and, in the case of expats like myself, even worse than that, as not only our movements have been heavily restricted, but our loved ones are far away, and we cant see them, they cant come visit you, and worst is, one does not still know when that will be.
We are no doubts social animals, and Covid has killed that, quite drastically, what we love to do, together, concerts, beached, football matches, events, holidays, parties, travelling, which for me are an essential part of what we are here for.
Instead, the lucky ones like me, which still kept a job, were forced to adapt to this, and spend most of our time at home, a home that is very far away from my family, my girlfriends family, and several of our friends, which are sitting something many thousand of kilometers away.
I don't know you but this has messed up with my head, had driven me to a state were I was very close to craziness, despair, and extreme sadness, and , no need to hide it, put me under the biggest mental pressure and emotional instability that I ever had to endure, and as the passionate person I consider myself, this is not a good mix.
With three little kids, and works in the house, remaining calm and positive turns into a Herculean task, reserved for those fortunate enough to keep the blood on their veins cool, turning the rest of us, mortal souls, into a human Volcano, ready to explode at any time, without knowing when or how.
It has also one positive sides, the world is less polluted, everyone has discovered the wonders of ecommerce ( not that I didn't tell you folks for the past 15 years), and that is, my friends, possibly the only positive impact I can take out of this situation.
I really admire those that remain positive about it, I really do, and look you very enviously, as I said in the end I am the lucky one, all those friends, people I know, that lost their jobs, the torrential rain of green badges sitting next to photos looking for work, those are the ones that can complain the most...
It's going to be a strange Christmas, without any of our families here, just the 5 of us, it will also be weird not to see or meet any of our friends, in Spain, Germany, and many other places.
Lets just hope that 2021 brings us a better year for all of us, and hopefully, we can still keep smiling and enjoy the things we love.
Stay safe and healthy fellows.
