Post COVID Office is The New World

Started going office from Month of May 2020 with lots of precautions. I felt something very deep in my mind after going office during pandemic situation that COVID has changed the entire social fabric of human kind. It also impacted the human relationship and trust among ourselves. People are now very happy to be isolated them self and would love to be in their own boundaries. People are specifically concern about their belonging and digital assets like phone, laptop, and printers, not allowing to share with any one now.

Few changes which impacted the office work culture comes in my mind to share with you, In morning hours, after checking mails and finishing the critical work people generally used to take tea break or Sutta (Cigarate) break. During this time discussions around politics or sports or health whatever topic comes first called the point to ponder. It is all dream now, people love to be at their own seats and don’t want to visit any other office staff seat. They prefer to use land line now. The situation has changed drastically. So very nicely tea time has gone.

Other than tea break, the other time slot in which office staff generally happy to do informal chit chat is lunch break. People even try to share lunch with each other. In India it is very general practice to share lunch with each other during the group lunch. It is now not possible to share anything with other office partner. Lunch become formal activity of office hours. Every individual is eating lunch while sitting individual his/her own seat. 

Conference room meeting is also a big no no.. However virtual meeting are happening all across however in some cases conference room being used with social distancing. Using conference room even with social distancing also big point of concern.

Generally, in an organization there are network printers where all the designated staff taking print out therefore printer strategically placed so that all the people can access printout. Now network printer is become problem for the office staff because people are not ready to take print out because of pandemic situation. Organization cannot provide individual printer but same time office work has to go on. The whole situation has changed because of COVID where people generally chit chat during the printout or collection of print out now avoiding to use the common places.

Joining office during the COVID situation, two projects now part of life.  First Project is coming to office and sanitizing the chair, table, table phone, and other items which we generally used and second project is going back to home. This project is very critical, actually going back home means a lot. Going back means you are going to meet with your family and they are first to expose with you that is reason sanitization of each every item is must. You also know office is high risk because people are coming from different zone. Sensitization of each and every item along with yourself with care is very important. Single mistake can leads to big problem. 

The whole situation has changed and yes people adopted it with new change as well. It seems New Normal however it is look like you are going for war, yes it is war…….
