It is about your pricing.

Yeah!!

The most uncomfortable part of a sales call.

I know that a lot of us are terrified of even having pricing conversations with potential clients.

We’re afraid of getting told “NO”.

We want to help them SOOO much, that we want to give them the best price so there’s no reason for them to say NO.

Have you ever thought “Hey if I lower my prices of course they will buy”

We are also afraid of Zombies rising against us...but I digress...Sorry about that I watched World War Z yesterday.

Getting back to the post.

You are charging too low!

Here’s why raising your prices will help you win more deals, work with BETTER clients, and ultimately help you make more money in less time

Wait a minute Anand...you are actually telling me to raise my prices !!!

Yes ! A 100% yes !!

Here is what I learned in all this time about non-premium pricing, and why it actually HURTS you:

1) Perceived value

When you charge too little, people actually perceive that you provide LESS value.

You are promising them the world, the moon and everything in the middle but only charging a few hundred bucks. They’re thinking “this almost sounds too good to be true…”.

Imagine you get an email saying “FREE VACATION IN PARIS for a week”.

What do you do ? Of course you don’t respond. Or You get a message from the Nigerian Prince that you have won a zillion dollars in ...you get the point.

Too good to be true !

This is why top professionals in their fields are proud of their high ticket offer and never ever discount.

2) Skin in the game

When you bring on clients who pay you very little, they actually don’t appreciate you and your service as much. They don’t have skin in the game !

For you, this means they might show up late, don’t do the work, refuse to be held accountable, question your advice, and ultimately fail and become a non-advocate of your brand.

This is the case because if someone doesn’t truly invest money into a solution, then they perceive that the solution isn’t worth their time/energy either.

This is why free courses online almost never get finished, whereas when you buy a course for $1000, you’re far more likely to complete it since you now have sunk cost. You need to consume in order to justify the money you put in.

From your perspective if you are charging less, you are playing a high volume low margin game.

The only way to make enough money for yourself is to get MORE clients and service them.

But for every new client you sell and service you need more time to spend. Eventually, you have so little time that you can’t really invest in making any one client successful. Their experience will always be sub-par since you have so many other customers to be dealing with.

3) Think about your mindset.

From your mental health and well-being, charging low is super frustrating and discouraging.

You will always feel like you’re getting underpaid and overworked, which may build up into bitterness and resentment for the end client. Obviously, if you’re working crazy hours because you’re always needing to find and sell new clients or be servicing them, than that’s going to exhaust you and make your life and business suck.

Let's turn this around

If you charged more, you could actually give adequate individual attention to your fewer amount of clients, and make sure you’re actually delivering a premium experience to each of them.

This results in high client success rate, retention, and referrals.

So in effect, if you sold at premium prices, you’d actually improve your win rate, increase client longevity & success rate, improve profit margin, get rid of all the annoying clients that are poor-fits, unlock tons of free time, and be far more well off emotionally.

Now, I know what you are thinking. They found a way around the Zombie apocalypse. They only attack fit….wait….sorry again.

Ahh..Let me take another shot at this.

Stay with me.

Now, I know what you are thinking. How do I know if I am charging too little.

1) People will actually tell you they don’t trust you because your offer is too low

This has happened to me. They will not believe you.

2) Prospect does not feel uncomfortable in the pricing conversation

You cannot feel the tension. Your prospect does not see value at your price point, they’re not uncomfortable. This is a bad thing.

OK.. now don’t go crazy and 10x your prices right away. Raise them slowly and keep the two points above in your mind.

One final point, you never want to charge so much that people just laugh at you.

If almost every single person you talk to thinks you’re charging too much, then you may need to rethink your pricing. It’s either lower the pricing a bit,or changing your sales pitch to be more resonant.

Hire a sales coach because it’s possible you might just suck at sales. But don’t worry, you can always learn that skill.

Now I would love to talk about how to raise your prices and how to sell your services like a pro but I have to go now…...Really urgent….and important work to do…..shhhh

I need to go, buy some food and build a big wall around my house against those..enough with that already. Damn that movie !! Can’t get it out of my head.

This post is already too long. I will create a differnt one to talk about how to price your services effectively !
