Is It Possible To Use Brain Waves To Detect Potentially Harmful Personal Information?

I read an interesting article some months back on quite an interesting topic which I forgot to share with you all. A researcher in Texas Tech University is currently working on developing user authentication methods by using brain waves as individual identifiers.

With the current issues arising out of hacking and whatnot, this research might be pretty useful if this tech is achieved and made workable. Of course, it can be used for more than this, possibilities are endless when you fiddle with the human brain.

Securing systems, nowadays, it seems have gone beyond coding and softwares. Biometrics are the latest and this brain waves technology might be the near future ahead. Till now biometrics have included Iris and Fingerprint identification but both can be faked. Brain waves have the upper hand as they can’t be at least in theory.

Once you've accessed the service, there is no other way for the system to still know it is you. The system is blind as to who is using the service. So the area of behavioral authentication looks at other user-identifying patterns that can keep the system aware of the person who is using it. One of those patterns that is growing in popularity within the research community is the use of brain waves obtained from an electroencephalogram, or EEG. Several research groups around the country have recently showcased systems which use EEG to authenticate users with very high accuracy.

So, yes, it is possible to use brain waves to detect potentially harmful personal information.
