Possible recall for non-compliant labelling

Possible recall for non-compliant labelling

Following a number of business to business meetings at the Alimentec Trade Show, Commercial Officer Vincent Ramlochan was eager to share this titbit with exporters regarding packaging and labelling requirements in Colombia.

As of June 15, 2023, foods that do not comply with the new front-of-pack labelling in Colombia may be recalled regardless of the date of manufacture, marketing or packaging of the food.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Colombia through Resolution 2492 of 2022 modified several articles in Resolution 810 of 2021, which establishes the technical regulation of nutritional and front-of-pack labelling for packaged foods for human consumption. The resolution defined the shape, color, size, maximum values, location, legend, proportions and dimensions that must be contained in the front-of-pack warning labelling that informs about excess trans and saturated fats, calories and sugars. See full resolution here: LINK

In this resolution, Ministry of Health and Social Protection changed the previously established circular shape to an octagonal black shape with a white border with a black background. The letters of the text of the seals must be capital letters and white, ARIAL BOLD font, in addition the word "MINSALUD" must be inscribed in white letters in the same symbol as can be seen in the following image.
