The Possible Now Podcast
We’ve been seeing a popular shift in consumer behaviour over the last year or two that is drastically different than the past decade. People are putting a lot of onus that would normally go towards governments and nonprofits onto brands and businesses. There’s a demand for transparency, sustainable business practices, and having values. Especially now, seeing how some businesses are being exposed because of Covid and the Black Lives Matter movement, it’s no longer about getting your customer to simply buy your product or service, it’s the impact you create as a business and how you treat others. Ever since we started Renga, we’ve always had an internal dialogue of how we wanted to build our business. Especially in the agency world, it’s so easy to get sucked into just doing execution. We wanted to do things differently by actually helping and advising the businesses we were branding to think about impact. That doesn’t mean solving a world issue, but understanding that every decision has a cause and effect, and having a sustainable business is better not only economically, but socially and environmentally as well.
For the past year, our internal philosophy at Renga has been “Building Brands That Matter.” Matter is a subjective term, but for us, it means working with businesses to create a circular economy. We use the amazing resources at B Corp to help us create brands that are conscious of their profits, their effect on the planet, and their people. For me, the decision to make a podcast was an easy way to extend our core beliefs at Renga, build a community of like minded people, and educate others on certain topics of sustainability. I’ve been going through my own personal journey with sustainability for the last year and it’s definitely made me more conscious on how I try to live my life.
The first season of The Possible Now will be on the broad topic of sustainability. Our hope is to help people understand that sustainability isn’t just an environmental issue, but actually one that spills over into all the decisions we make. We reference the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a lot on the podcast, which the UN has created as a call to actions for all governments to partner on. Working towards a solution for all these 17 issues will create a better world for all.
While all the guests on this first season come from different backgrounds and upbringings, they all share a similar passion for solving these issues.
A better future is possible and it starts now! I hope you enjoy these interviews and maybe learn something you didn’t previously know.
