Fact #1:?it is not uncommon that many will reach 100 years old, with our life expectancy on average increasing by three years every decade.?
Fact #2:?half of our skills will become irrelevant in the next five years.??
Fact #3: current generation entering the job market on average will change their jobs 15 times.
By the end of this decade, companies will lose $8.5 trillion worth of value annually due to a lack of talent with relevant skills. Moreover, 80% of the top 10 skills, like resilience, stress tolerance, and flexibility, will be soft skills.?
Almost two years ago at Emotika, we took on the challenge to make personalized training scalable, and this is how we approached it:

Micro-learning
We first looked at how we can make learning more effective, and the micro-learning format was where we made our first bet. We created a mobile platform and focused on acquiring unique B2B trainers' content to help organizations effectively upskill. We worked to have quality content and supplement it with community and peer2peer experiences that users could use at their own pace on the job. We did not look for the perfect metric to measure the impact. Too many unsuccessful attempts in the industry convinced us that taking easily measurable proxy metrics, like completion rate and NPS, and focusing on product discovery will help us grasp the first breakthrough in learning effectiveness. While we had significant progress and social distancing accelerated the traction, we saw that F2F training is not going anywhere: the more people work remotely, the more they value the life/synchronous interactions.
Blended learning
That is why we started experimenting with blended learning by using our platform to enhance F2F experiences before/at/after the training. We notice a massively underserved market, and friction to get content ready is ten times smaller than with proper quality eLearning courses. However, we also realized that we need to simplify many user journeys from the product perspective. We believe this is the right direction we are invested in working on blended micro-learning.
To sum up, the longevity of life is significantly increasing, people are getting used to changing jobs every year or two, and our skills are becoming irrelevant multiple times over our professional careers. So it is the right time to get used to up-skilling and re-skilling. My bet is on blended and microlearning.
