Is It Possible to Lead Remotely?

Is it possible to lead remotely?

Is it possible to build trust, psychological safety and practice Leadership 2.0 in a remote work environment? The proof is in the pudding; this weekend,?Elite High Performance?had our corporate retreat and it was the first time I met any of my team in person.

And I had worked with some of them for almost 3 years.

The meeting felt more natural than any other corporate team I've ever worked for. It felt natural, it felt easy, it felt like they accepted who I am and I accepted them.

Even one of the staff at the resort mentioned that we felt more "real" than most people she interacts with,

No, building this high-performance environment isn't easy. It will not happen by accident, people won't bump into each other at the coffee machine, at the cafeteria or at a ping-pong table in the office.

But is it possible?

A resounding yes.

2.0 Leadership takes consistent, deliberate action and living into your values on a daily basis. It takes commitment, vulnerability, and effort to do the little things right, to create spaces for interaction, and to build connections.

And it pays off.

As Kim Scott says, it's enlightened self-interest. Building these teams generate higher productivity, innovation and profitability. It also leads to people feeling happier, a higher well-being and feeling like they belong.

How does it pay off?

  • Companies that have high-trust cultures have higher stock returns of 2-3% per year than their peers over a 26 year period
  • When people experience the impact of their work, they are 142% more productive and organizational revenue increases by 172%.?- Adam Grant
  • People at high-trust companies report:?74% less stress,?106% more energy at work,?50% higher productivity,?13% fewer sick days,?76% more engagement,?29% more satisfaction with their lives,?40% less burnout than their low-trust counterparts
  • Toxic culture is 10.4 times more powerful than compensation in predicting if someone will leave their job

How is it playing out for us?

We are impacting hundreds of leaders and thousands of people on a daily basis. We are growing personally, professionally and as a business at an astounding rate. I'm impacting more people on a deeper level than I ever have before. I have never been more fulfilled and, even during the Great Resignation, I'm not thinking about leaving.

It's time to take a step back and look at yourself and your business. Are you getting great results even in this time of turmoil? Are you feeling fulfilled in your job or are you dreading another day? Is your business and are your people thriving? Are you in a war for talent or are you retaining your people?

I promise you. Looking at yourself and looking at your business in the mirror is hard but it pays off. It literally saved my life.

Elite High Performance specializes in building high impact leaders who turn their teams into happy high performers who crush their goals. If that sounds like something you'd like in your business, reach out to me by DM or?[email protected]

Absolutely it is! The proof is definitely in the pudding and I've got the pudding to prove it - I've been running a successful remote team for 18 years. It does require a different style of leadership but it can be done.
