Is it possible to fight against of age discrimination?

Are you feeling picked on because you are older than your co-workers? Do you suspect you lost your job because you're older -- and because you made more money than younger workers? Is it true that nobody needs your indispensable value as mentor, and guide, adviser and principal member? How about your years of experience, which is real treasure for young, less skilled engineers.

Recently one of my colleagues from previous company sent me a very deep article, which is fully, supported my statement, posted 05/16/16 :

Building A Successful Company In Bad Times: Lessons Learned From The Old Timers

"We have engineers in offices managing drilling rigs, and completions crews that do not have an ounce of humility. When things go right, they enjoy recognition; when things go wrong, they shift the blame. This is an industry that has become the regular business where a BA or an MBA makes you the cream of the crop, in turn picking engineers and managers based off pedigree."

Engineers spend years gathering arsenals of career knowledge specific to their jobs, their fields, and their personal experiences. That knowledge helps them get raises, find new jobs, and continue building their education to greater heights. But a large portion of that knowledge is also wasted.

Many engineering firms have discovered the value of mentorship. Mentorship allows experienced engineers to take rookies under their wing, imparting the hard earned knowledge that has helped them excel to a new generation of innovators.

Benefits Of Hiring Older Workers

All organisations need employees. Employees who are responsible, dependable, capable, mature and focused.

Mentioned below are a few great reasons for hiring older workers.

Dedicated

Workers who are dedicated to their job strive harder and produce superior quality work. There are numerous stories of older workers finding potentially fatal mistakes in accounting errors and pricing that their younger colleagues had missed.

Punctual

Older workers are defiantly more punctual than the younger lot. It may deeply embedded in their psyche from a more disciplined past. Or it might the second opportunity to kick start their career that makes them strive harder to be punctual.

Honest

Older workers believe in values like personal integrity and honesty, ideals which are rapidly getting eroded in the younger generation.

Obey orders

Older employers are careful listeners and believe in following the directions they are given. This is a quality that makes it easier to train them - older people have to be told only once and they follow the directions. Moreover, younger employees are often only interested putting in their time and leaving. Older employees on the other hand are more willing to stay back and get the job done because their sense of pride doesn’t allow them to leave without completing their work.

Confident and Mature

Older employees have the confidence to share their recommendations and ideas which make them priceless assets to any organization. Their years of accumulated experience give them a superior understanding about how a certain thing can be done more efficiently, saving the company time and money. Maturity comes from experiencing situations

Setting an example at office

Organizations completely staffed by twenty year olds, miss the guiding hand and the civilizing presence of older employees. Having a few father figures in office helps the younger generations temper their attitude and be more disciplined while in office. Older workers also make excellent role models and career mentors, and are of invaluable assistance to new recruits during training sessions.

Reduced costs

Money is not the first priority for older employees. They usually have comfortable incomes after having worked for the better part of their lives. Older people work because they want to, not because they have to. So they are willing work for a little less if they get the job they want, which makes reduced labor costs one of the most lucrative propositions when it comes to hiring older workers.
