Possible | Dana Griffin on AI, belonging, and intergenerational connection

Loneliness is a public health crisis affecting people of all ages.

This week on Possible, Aria and I sit down with someone using AI to bridge generational gaps and combat the loneliness epidemic.?

Dana A. Griffin is co-founder and CEO of Eldera , a global platform using AI to foster intergenerational connections. Raised by her grandparents and mentored by older adults throughout her life, Dana is on a mission to help people see aging as an asset.?

Dana shares how Eldera uses AI to safely and meaningfully connect kids with older mentors, addressing loneliness, declining mental health, and lost wisdom. They explore how technology can support human connection—rather than replace it—along with what an "age-integrated society” could unlock.?

Loneliness is indeed a growing social problem, especially among older and younger people. Eldera’s virtual village concept is exciting and I believe that through the power of technology we can create a closer, supportive community for those facing challenges with loneliness. Looking forward to seeing more projects like this develop

Research shows these connections cut mortality risk by 29%. The real magic happens when we blend human touch with smart tech to bridge generations.

Reid Hoffman Dana A. Griffin SUCH AN IMPORTANT PROBLEM TO SOLVE!!! I've thought about this problem for so long, especially when Tony Hsieh died, which I wrote about, and not one publication would cover it (weird, when it's usually easy to get pieces published -- no one wants to talk about this stuff) Articulation of the problem with Hsieh as example >> https://docs.google.com/document/d/11A7zk0ao8U-CleuqBHlk0XkNGAau71pI4gwkSZIoNzM/edit?usp=sharing

?? This post is crazy smart. Here’s why it works. ?? 1. It makes people stop and think. "Loneliness is an epidemic." This is a bold, scary statement. People read it and say… Wait… is it really that bad? They want to keep reading. ?? 2. It flips what people believe. "One untapped resource to solve this problem are older adults." Most people think older adults need help... but this says the opposite. That makes it powerful. ?? 3. Simple words, BIG emotions. "Two of the most expensive global healthcare problems can be solved with one intergenerational intervention." This makes people feel hope. A big problem… with a simple fix? That’s exciting. ?? 4. The secret villain. "The problem is one that is exacerbated by technology, but can also be solved by technology." Tech is the bad guy and the hero. That’s a great twist. ?? 5. The last line makes people answer. "Eldera uses artificial intelligence to safely match and connect young people and older adults to form a virtual village where both can learn and grow." People ask… Could this really work? That keeps them thinking. ?? Great copy does this. It makes people stop, think, and act. ?? Tech made us lonely… but it can bring us together.
