Possible Cure to COVID-19 Fear...

I just walked down stairs in our perpetually vacating building here in Orlando to get in a few steps and reward myself with a healthy smoothie. Pondering on my journey these unprecedented times and the palpable affect they're having on everyone's everything.

As I awaited my order, adding a little protein for my impending seven-story stair climb; I chatted with the folks behind the counter about the craziness of what's happening.

The blender stopped, she poured my smoothie, and our conversation concluded with chuckles as we all agreed that the whole world just needs a big hug!

As I gasped for air on my stair climb; I discovered in my deeper thinking... that physically hugging people during a #covid19 pandemic might not be the best behavior to encourage worldwide. So, after I regained consciousness sitting at my seventh floor desk; I realized that the ONLY way to fight a #virus is with something #viral. So, I created a polite little #airhug.

An #airhug is simply the giving of a #hug from a minimum of six feet away as per CDC guidelines. It may include a polite little air-pat on the air-back as may be more comfortable and appropriate for some.

Now, for those of you who may be more like me, I also created the more aggressive #BAIRHUG! A #BAIRHUG by design, is intended to communicate a heart filled with deep and purposeful love and care. As with the #airhug, it MUST be given a minimum of six feet away as per the CDC guidelines. Unlike the more comfortable #airhug, however; the #BAIRHUG MUST include the complete wrapping of the giver's arms around the #BAIRHUG-receiver completing the action with two distinct pounds the second of which being accompanied by the sound of a good meaningful hug!

I believe that if we go viral with #airhugs and #BAIRHUGS, we may be able to fight the viral conditions being created by COVID-19 fear... and together, from our respective isolation points, give the world what the world needs NOW!

Let's do this!! #airhug #BAIRHUG #groupairhug #GROUPBAIRHUG

I will be staying at the Hampton inn in West Palm Beach. I will have the weekend free and could come to see the two of you. I just need your address.

Yes, I will be driving as Atwell is not allowing plane travel. It is a two day drive to Jacksonville. I will probably be in Florida about two weeks. I may have to visit the Sarasota office.

When I wrote this three weeks ago; like you... I didn't have any way of knowing what right now would look like. Orlando City Hall is completely closed to the public and #Riskmanagement's and #Safety's role has been self-ELEVATED to physically visiting as many of our essential workers as possible to #holdontight to them through this unprecedented time. #Holdontight includes first, the acknowledgement of their fear humbly blended with clear, practical, and easy to understand responses to their very legitimate questions. Many of our conversations include an #airhug, #BAIRHUG, #grouphug, and #GROUPBAIRHUG as we meet following the #CDCguidelines. I think it's time to have some virtual meetings via ZOOM to chat about understanding who we are, why we do what we do, how we can add value, and what might happen when these conversations begin... what do you think? Please respond with a simple #BAIRHUG if you'd like to participate. Dan
