Positivity Vs Negativity - Ali's Words

In my role, like other coaches and football players, I have had my share of bad days. It is a natural phenomenon. Life cannot be perfect all the time.?

This summer has been a long and hectic one. Putting this club together has been both exciting and challenging for me. We had to organize the entry into the league, arrange the finances, sort out the coaching structure, the sponsorship, and the players coming on trial and signing them. There were a lot of things going on and this can take its toll on you. With all this happening, smooth days cannot be expected and sometimes you just have a bad day. Yesterday I had one of those.

Like all good and bad things it passed too and now I am back in control and having a positive day. It made me think hard about positivity versus negativity. We experience these feelings and emotions on a daily basis, but hardly think about the impact they can have on our state of mind and life in general.?

Being in football is an emotional rollercoaster ride and you need to be mentally strong to handle whatever the game brings your way. There can be extreme highs and lows and you have to build emotional resilience to cope with the stress. You can be down on luck and face severe criticism or failures, but it is crucial to not give in and let emotions control you. Take negative events as temporary setbacks that you can overcome.

Speaking from experience as a head coach and a player, my advice to everyone is to take time out to clear your mind when faced with such situations. Learn to appreciate the small things and the small wins instead of waiting for some grand success. These little moments of happiness will bring positivity to your life and give you strength. Expect to have all kinds of days in football. It is a win-and-lose game after all.?

By giving in and sulking, you will prolong the agony and waste time obsessing over something that can be put behind. If you let negativity gain a stronghold in your lives you may continue to feel bad for weeks. Take charge and do not allow yourself to be swept away by negative emotions. Tomorrow is another day. Focus on the positivity, build on it and move on step by step. This will help you bounce back. That is how I cope and I hope by sharing it I can help people who are having a negative week.
