#PositiveVibes - What's The Word?

The VIBE: So, what's your word?

Kelley Anne posted the meme above in her feed yesterday. It’s a quote from Derek Jones, “Always try to be an example of the 1 word you would want people to use when describing you." Her word is ambitious, which if you know her, you know it to be true. She is a go-getter in every sense of the word and an amazingly high achiever. I am proud she is my friend.

I immediately reshared her post it in my feed and asked my network what their word was. Loyal, said one, which fits her to a T. We have been friends for more than twenty years, and I don’t know anyone else who is as devoted to her career and her family as she is. It is why she is such an amazing teacher. Another said conscientious, which, you have to be in working in clinical trials.

That got me thinking what my word would be. When I was younger, in my twenties and even thirties, I would have said, relentless, because there is nothing I would not have done to get what I wanted. The end always, always, always justified the means. I don’t know if that is good or not, but I also know that I did achieve some results, even if it did cost me some things along the way. There is another tenure of my life where I would have used the word, angry. That was probably far longer than I realized. Looking back, anger is a tool to be used sparingly; while it can be a motivator to help you succeed, you quickly burn out and alienate everyone around you. No one wants to be around anyone who is angry all the time.

To encompass all aspects of my life now, I will say that my word is driven, but not in a way that I have to prove anything to anyone anymore, including myself. I am driven to be a good man, husband, father and employee; drive to show that the changes I have made in my life are real and lasting, that that those that are with me now, will be with me until the end; and finally driven to make the rest of my life the absolute best of my life.

Please remember to like and share ;)
