My best friend came over yesterday. He came here to pick up all my old game cards. We have a hobby that we share and still do. I was done with the nonsensical side and looking for something much more fun to do with my leisure time. When leisure feels too much like work, that is a sign to me that it is time to change something.
So I invited him over. Had some pizza and then I said "come upstairs and take all these cards home with you." He looked at me like it was Christmas. Seriously. The best way I can describe it, is if you played Magic: The Gathering and someone said "take my lifetime supply." You would do it in a heartbeat and be grateful.
I am grateful too - grateful that they made him so happy and even more grateful they are gone.

We all have this idea of who we want to be. The perfect version of our ourselves. Of course, we’ll never get there. We lose our phone or we lose our keys or order hand-tossed instead of deep-dish pizza, and the wife said "get deep-dish." Or we give away something that has been in our lives since age 11, because you realize, that part of you is gone, and you are gone with it. You are grateful it happened but even more grateful you are into a new place.
I posted this yesterday and it is true - life is a series of trade-offs. The price of a new life is your old one. You have to be willing to leave the old behind. Why do it? It's tempting to look back, but even more fulfilling to say you are growing.
Don't cast stones; times will eventually make sense.
