Positively Proactive
This week we had fun using the "Stab the Potato" exercise with our GPS students to demonstrate Proactivity! If I asked you to stab a potato with a flimsy straw, do you think you could do it? Well, there is a way and it takes knowing the technique ahead of time and not just taking a "stab" at it.
First we have them try without knowing the technique and that is usually pretty funny and doesn't work at all. Then Jeff teaches them the technique, they practice in the air and then try it on the potato and this semester ALL of the students were able to get the straw all of the way through the potatoes proving that if you prepare ahead of time, be proactive, you can succeed!
Here are some fun pictures from this week of our students taking a "stab" at the potatoes:
As you can see, you put your thumb on top of the straw as to trap the air inside of the straw and practice a long swing away from the potato and then onto the potato without stopping the momentum, pretend the potato is not there and guess what??? It works!!!
Disclaimer: No student was injured in this process, fun was had and potatoes were donated to some lucky students!
You might ask where I found such large potatoes....Walmart had these bags of extra large baking potatoes, perfect for our exercise! Hey, people were asking :)
Keeping it short for tonight, stay inspired and follow your passion! This work that we do is what gets us up in the morning! These kids our priceless!!
