A Positive Thanks

Good Morning

I wanted to say a genuine thanks to all that messaged to wish me all the best on my new role over the last couple of weeks, it's certainly an ‘interesting’ time to move Company!

In what could have been a total nightmare owing to COVID-19, Lockdown, Oil Price, running out of coffee, finding new ways of entertaining 2 little people… the list goes on, what I keep focus on is the positives in this situation.

Business wise;

Preparation – from IT equipment, to on-boarding, to ‘virtual’ meet the team – Maersk Training were prepared. I was welcomed (almost) as well as if I’d been in the office. Being ahead of the game – in any way you can - makes a huge difference. It did to me.

Commitment – to continuing to do things in the right way, safely, every time. Risks are minimized as much as possible. This extends to ensuring our Clients know their obligations, extensions being granted from regulators and constant dialogue and updates. A willingness to keep engaged and informed has allowed me to grasp our Maersk Training Business ethos from my home office.

Planning – always plan. To change, to improve, to move forward. Thankful for the opportunity to implement a plan with the energy from a new team, all keen to play a part. Whilst the world is a very different place, it will return to whatever normal is one day soon. Plan to be better, we certainly are.

Time – there is no commute. There’s no in person meetings. It has meant that Skype/teams/calls are worthwhile and purposeful. I think before this we could all be found guilty of wasting some time. I now value it more than ever.

On a personal note;

The time I have managed to spend at home with aforementioned little people. All likelihood is that I will never spend almost 2 months + in the constant company of my kids ever again (and that’s maybe for the best!) – and they’ve both achieved milestones that I may have missed ordinarily. They are both awesome little people.

The weather in Aberdeen! Can you imagine if this was winter? And it was freezing and constantly raining?! Pic taken yesterday at the office (collecting something) – always appreciate the sunshine!
