Positive Posts from Peggy: Moving past fear and towards faith

Our minds react stronger to negative information than positive information, especially in times of uncertainty. This is why many of us are living in fear right now.

You may be feeling more uncertain about your future than ever before, but uncertainty is part of life, not just during the virus challenge. None of our futures are guaranteed, this is why we need to make the most of our lives by making the most of ourselves, especially during uncertainty.

When we see or sense that other people people are afraid, we instinctively react with fear. Here's one quick way to change that reaction:

Refocus: Bring your focus away from the thoughts of Armageddon and instead focus on your five senses. Ask yourself:

  1. “What am I smelling?”
  2. “What am I seeing?”
  3. “What am I hearing?”
  4. “What are the tastes in my mouth?”
  5. “How is my body feeling?”
You can’t have runaway thoughts and answer these questions at the same time. This simple act has the power to break the primal instinct response and move past fear and towards faith.
