Positive is the new negative. Is this the only memory we want to carry forward from the present pandemic – #COVID19?

There is enough spoken already about the scale, magnitude, and effects of #COVID19. Of course, at the time of writing this, there are over 10m confirmed cases, and over 500k people who have lost lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaving families and I pray for their soul to rest in peace. However, on the brighter side, we’ve almost 6m people who have recovered, and that determines the collective strength of the human race - #PlasmaTherapy.
This is how it has always been in the past. Every time we face such adversity, that is inevitable, it need not keep you from achieving your intended goals. Like someone once said, comfort and fortune have never enriched the world as much as hard times has. Looking at this, particularly from around where I live (The Indian Peninsula), I see so many local people in various facets of businesses or their personal life have come up with such wonderful and timely innovation, that makes me wonder do we need such seasonal hardships to bring out the innovative and best minds.
At least in the industry that I’m part of – Information Technology – some of the early calls like “Digital Transformationâ€, “Securityâ€, “Changing business models – Tech powered, Human-led†solutions are on a top gears and completely accelerated. In fact, a joke is doing viral on all the social media that this pandemic is the single largest reason why companies accelerate their digital journey.
I will try and list some:
- Idea Shapers Health and Hygiene Products such as automatic dispensers, magic key, contactless thermometers, sneeze guard etc.Idea Shapers
- A team that was primarily focusing on innovation on micro lending and financial services, in less than 5 weeks come up with a hyper-local “essential buying†and “home distribution†services app focusing on enabling the neighborhood community by ensuring end-to-end hygiene supply chain and most importantly delivering it to you within one hour. Currently on Android Play store only, and limited areas of focus, is now in their second month, is already on a vertical and horizontal scale trajectory. 1HourBazaar
- Another IT services organization have come up with opening their digital gateway for the local mom-and-pop-stores / kirana stores completely “Free†and allowing them to experience the new channel of customer interface and allowing them to keep running their business during this period. Cloud Shoppy
- People even from the non-IT background like in Performing Arts, Classical Music and sports have taken to Digital Platforms - such as Dr. TVG's AIMA or Dr. Sudha Raghunathan and plenty of others in the Classical Dance fraternity.
These were just a few that I’ve listed, and there are plenty such innovation across the country from the big manufacturers making new low-cost ventilators, to young start-ups bringing in robot-based solutions and drones-based services, and multiple apps. Looks like India is fighting #COVID19 with #Innovation #Technology and #Humanity. In the end, like what the Bhagavad Gita states, when we develop spiritual perception, we remain undisturbed even amidst life’s worst adversities.
