Positive or negative change. You choose...

The world as we know it has changed. That's undeniable. I personally have moved through the helpless, panicked and scared phase into a state of acceptance and belief that everything will be ok.
I've spent the past four years in trauma counselling and something I've learnt that has prepared me for what we're experiencing right now is this....
What is happening right now is out of our control. However, something that we DO have control over is our RESPONSE.
??How are you coping? Are you ok?... and I mean REALLY ok?
??Do you have support? Is there someone you can call or message to share your feelings?
??Are you still working? Are you considered an essential service?
??Have you transitioned to working from home? How is that affecting your ability to home school and care for your children?
??Have you lost your job as a result of the Pandemic?
There are so many reasons to be angry, bitter, frustrated and whatever other negative feelings you are experiencing. It's ok to feel that way. What's not ok is to stay in that place. Acknowledge what you're feeling and then flip it around.
What are the positive things that have resulted from this situation?
What have you discovered about yourself and what is important to you?
Have you been able to ditch the commute and politics in the office?
Do you finally have the time with your kids you've been wanting for so long?
You have a choice. You can either come out of this completely crushed or you can come out stronger.
You are not powerless, you are not the only one suffering and you can change the outcome but the only person who can do that is YOU. You have to make a decision to change.
Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.
