Positive Mental Attitude
PMA - Positive Mental Attitude. One of my grade school teachers always had PMA posted on her chalk board and around her room. Also, my Grandmother, who recently passed away was a practicing Christian Scientist. She was always talking (preaching) about thinking positive, being positive, etc. It did become a bit annoying to hear, but I do believe in the notion that a positive mind will bring a positive life.
If you are going to have one New Year Resolution I would say be more positive. Start off the year and try to end 2015 being more positive! Everything you do in life, well almost everything, requires some sort of mental thought or attitude. From waking up in the morning to eating right, to exercising, to all the tasks your job requires and going to bed...do it being positive. I don't preach it, but I do follow it. I always try to be optimistic and stay positive. I see the negative people, where something is always going wrong or they always seem to be complaining. It just doesn't seem like a fun life to live. Those types are a drain to be around in my opinion. Sure life isn't always roses, but go through it being positive. Did you hear the speech from the ESPY's that Stuart Scott gave? (May he rest in peace!) It brought many to tears! His whole outlook was a positive one. You could feel the positive energy coming out of him. And if anyone had the right to be negative it was him, or the many people, old and young, dealing with disease, poverty, etc.
Many only want to exercise more, lose weight or eat better. As you know, most people don't follow through with their New Year Resolutions because they give up, more or less meaning they develop a negative attitude. No one can make you be more positive. Maybe there are some classes or you can find a lecture on positive thinking, but it takes energy. Thinking positive is not easy, but I do believe in it. This is not a post on how to be positive, but to think about yourself and make the conscious decision to be more positive in 2015. Be positive, be happy and as my Grandmother used to say, "Think positive thoughts".

10 年Thanks, Joe! I agree .. positive attracts positive and negativity attracts the same.

10 年Great thoughts Joe and thanks. Actually it sounds like your Grandmother's (preaching) paid off for her because it seems to have had a good affect on you. That's good news for me because I'm always (preaching) to my two sons as well. I'm hopeful some of it just might take. Thanks for the good thoughts Joe. I enjoyed reading it.

10 年Well said Joe! My biggest complaint about employees (as I'm sure you have heard me say many times) is when people are negative, just complain about their job, company, etc. and do nothing about it. I try to look at life "glass half full" whenever possible. I wish more people would. Life is good!

10 年Too true - and a good point for goal #1 in a new year. It's a much better outlook when we look in a positive light, where problems are challenges and daily problem are really only minor setbacks on the way to success. Since many of our days are filled with one problem or another to resolve, the quality of any day, week or month - is determined by this outlook. In addition, a positive leader creates a happy, positive team that believes they will succeed rather than looking for failure around every corner. A happy/positive team generally makes other teams happy (it spreads) which makes the manager's job much easier) Who really wants to work with negative people? :-)
