Negative and positive seems opposite but they are actually two sides of the same coin. In any situation, you can see the positive side or negative side. For example, in an unfortunate accident, a person loses his legs. He can be sad and depressed because he lost his legs. He can be happy that he is still alive. He can still enjoy life, spend time with family and friends and do something for the society. He needs to adapt to the changed situation.
However, negative thinking is also important for human survival. Humans beings have survived through toughest times because of their negative thinking. Imagine we once lived in jungles, an extremely hostile environment where we were extremely weak. Negative thinking made us approach everything with extreme caution. We got programmed to think?n egative. Another example, we cross the road carefully looking both sides turn by turn. We are worried we will be hit by a speeding vehicle. We think negative.
Humans developed and our environmental changed completely but our thinking patterns have not changed much. Today we don't have to be negative.
Fight between negative and positive is ongoing. It is an everyday affair.
Person with negative attitude is more likely to give up in the event of a failure. Self-doubt can creep in and he may undervalue his skills and abilities. He may bring the bars down or may change his goals altogether.

It is rare that a person would succeed in anything in first attempt. A baby when tries to walk for the first time is bound to fall several times before actually learning to walk. Running would come later.
Person with positive attitude on the other hand may persist consistently even when he is failing. Failing and learning, continue your passion with persistence, can make a person lucky and eventually successful.
Thank you.
