Poseidon's Steed

Under the sea
Magical and free
The Seahorse family
Beauty and grace
They graze away
Anchored to sea grass
Within the corals of the bay
They move with the current and drift away
Colours vibrant- bright displays
Sunlight shining it's rays below
Putting on the oceans show
Lighting up the warm sea bed
The seahorse dance to attract a mate
Entwining their tails with their date
Like traffic lights their colours change
Reflecting their mood and exchange
The females parts with her eggs and places them into her partners pouch
He protects them for several weeks
Until it's time - to let them out
In a flurry the mini steeds are born
Miniature versions of their mum and dad
Poseidon's treasure trove, his horses of the sea grove
An artists dream they float away between the corals of the bay
Captured by the artists brush onto a painting admired so much
The King of the sea chose a majestic horse
Poseidon's steed, true beauties of the sea
