POSCO Restarts Second Hot Rolling Mill
Hebei Cucheng Trading Co., Ltd
Professional Steel and Building Materials Supplier
South Korean steelmaker Posco announced on Dec. 15 that it had decided to restart its second hot rolling mill after previous floods.
The hot-rolling plant is said to have a production capacity of 5 million tons per year, accounting for 33% of Posco's total production capacity of 14.8 million tons per year. The hot-rolled coils produced by the hot-rolling plant will be used as raw materials for subsequent cold-rolling, galvanizing, etc., and supplied to the construction, automotive and machinery industries.
Posco pointed out that the restart of the second hot rolling mill is due to the support of JSW India, which handed over the motor drive of the hot rolling mill under construction to Posco. Otherwise, it may take 1 year or even longer for POSCO to replace these motor drivers alone.
With the restart of the second hot rolling mill, 13 of Posco's 18 steel mills have resumed normal operations, namely: the first and second hot rolling mills, the second and third plate mills, The first, second, third and fourth wire rod mills, the first and second cold rolling mills, the second and third electrical steel plate mills.
At the end of December this year, Posco plans to restart the No. 2 stainless steel plant and the No. 1 electric steel plant. In January 2023, a stainless steel cold rolling line and an electroplating line of Posco are scheduled to resume operation to help the company fully resume operations.
