Portland Airport's Mass Timber Masterpiece Stuns the International Mass Timber Conference Team!
Dear Forest Business Network Newsletter Reader:
Last week our International Mass Timber Conference team?went on our annual "tour-of-tours" discovery trip in Portland, Oregon, and surrounding locales. We sought out the newest mass timber buildings and facilities in the area with the difficult task of choosing a set number for our March 2025 pre-conference building tours.?
One stop in our marathon week was the grand opening of the Portland International Airport's new mass timber terminal. If you work in the wood products industry I suspect you've noticed the flood of news articles. The phrase "#masstimber" is truly hitting the mainstream in a big way thanks to this epic building.
Suffice to say, we weren't prepared when we first walked into the terminal. With necks craned and lots of wows, it turns out that when you put a bunch of timber nerds in the world's largest mass timber airport we found ourselves looking for the nearest medic. Fortunately, there were some therapy llamas close by to calm our elevated heart rates.
?
How fitting and fortuitous that the home of the International Mass Timber Conference gets this grand mass timber cathedral to welcome visitors to the event.?
We can't wait for you to see it next March.
Best,
Craig Rawlings?- President & CEO - Forest Business Network
