The Port of Plo?e Authority overcomes the obstacle of the maritime and multimodal transport ICT system with the DIGSEA project

The Port of Plo?e Authority is a partner within the EU project #DIGSEA, the DIGitalisation of multimodal transport in the #Adriatic SEA, which is financed under the #interreg Italy-Croatia program.

The DIGSEA project groups technical #knowledge based on several Interreg IT-HR #projects whose activities are the application of #ICT #technologies in #maritime and #multimodal #transport. The collected knowledge under the projects will be consolidated in one approach of #logistics in the #hinterland of the maritime #port, covering the entire supply chain.

Maritime transport is the most #sustainable way of transporting goods from an environmental and energy point of view. Maritime ports, located near cities, play an essential role in the transport-logistics #system. They enable the linking of maritime and land routes and are an important factor in the growth of the economy and employment.?#Digitalization facilitates cooperation between actors in the supply chain, provides better visibility and real-time #management of #freight flows, leads to a reduction in administrative burden, and enables better use of #infrastructure and resources. All this makes transport and logistics operations more efficient and makes it easier to integrate different modes of transport. This helps to separate economic growth from traffic growth by #optimizing #traffic flows, and #smart logistics #solutions will help achieve environmental #sustainability objectives.

#Experience and #expertise from the current programming period serve as the basis for the new, ensuring their long-term sustainability and the possibility of repetition.

The mission of the project is to transfer knowledge and raise #awareness about the use of ICT as a powerful and effective tool to improve the efficiency, and consequently the #environmental #efficiency of ports and the entire supply chain. As part of the project, 65,000.00 euros (ERDF 55,250.00 EURO) were allocated to the Port of Plo?e Authority.
