Immediately after the sudden cancellation of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), I visited Porsche’s development center, test circuit, component and assembly factories, museum and headquarters located in their mythical sites of Zuffenhausen and Weissach (Baden-Württemberg).
I have many opportunities to interact with employees of international companies and organizations but I have very rarely witnessed an across-the-board enthusiasm and motivation as striking as the one I saw at Porsche.
With Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche, we exchanged on an array of topics such as the synergies within the Volkswagen group, a potential Porsche factory in China, his Make-or-Buy strategy, Key Success Factors in national markets, the importance of emotional brands, the future of electric sports cars and the equilibrium between cost containment v. multiplicity of options. And, of course, the recently cancelled GIMS. The main points are published today in the Swiss business newspaper l’Agefi in the form of an interview: link.
