Pornography & Style..
It seems there has been a consistent and constant denial of the obvious for the benefit of the entertainment industry for quite some time now. Time after time reports pop up of the correlation study between porn and sexual crimes in society. There are journals published like volume 14 September/October 2009 edition on Aggression and violent behavior which concludes that, " actually the available research and self-reported and official statistics might provide evidence for the reverse effect; the increasing availability of pornography appears to be associated with a decline in rape. Whatever the explanation is, the fact remains that crime in general, and rape specifically, has decreased substantially for the last 20 years. "
Concurrently, availability of pornography has increased steadily in the last 20 years. These data give the impression of a catharsis effect; that exposure to pornography may actually provide a means to alleviate sexual aggression." !!!
One cannot understand to laugh or cry on such unrelated correlation which at its best can only assert a basic trial and error method of research! It is same as confirming the act of murder as legal if it is to some one you don't like, since they deserve it!. The real correlation comes into picture while shedding light on a different and more sinister crime wave which has replaced the rape statistics right under our noses. A crime rate which is hidden in mundane disappearance of children, little girls and weaker society individuals susceptible to such actions. It is estimated that around 8 million children go missing around the world each year, with figures ranging from 150 on a monthly basis from a population of 2.5 million in Jamaica to around 800'000 in America according to 2002 government study.
Pornography as many would like to believe is no longer the epitome of freedom of expression as praised by many men and at times conveniently marketed by the women placed curiously in the entertainment industry. Consensus is gathering extensively among media outlets, academic organizations, feminists and the social conservatives that not only does pornography harm individuals and families, but it is also a major factor in the underground sex slave industry. Even the women entering this field on free will lack a strong later on realise that they are entering an industry where predators prey upon impressionable young girls who will do anything for status and glamor only to realize that the money or the status is not worth the loss of innocence and humiliation. Currently critical measures are being taken in helping the nearly two million mostly women and girls who are sex slaves at any one time. And they will hopefully join several laws signed by President Obama last year.
But will these bills really help?, while the on line media and the popular entertainment industry considers pornography as relevant as going out to lunch!!
“There are only two conclusions here: That men are naturally willing to do this to women — biology — or that they are being socialized by the culture to lose all empathy for women,I refuse to accept that men are born rapists, porn users, or johns.”Dr. Gail Dines, a professor of sociology and women’s studies at Wheelock College who also chairs its American Studies department.
“As an academic, a sociologist, and mother, I believe it is the way men are shaped by society, the biggest sex educator of young men today is pornography, which is increasingly violent and dehumanizing, and it changes the way men view women.”Dr. Gail Dines
Dines is not alone in her view. According to the non-profit Fight The New Drug (FTND), which relies on dozens of studies for its pornography data, “men who go to prostitutes are twice as likely to have watched a porn film in the last year compared to the general population.”
FTND’s research also found that “when these customers show up, many come ready with porn images in hand to show the women they’re exploiting—many of which are human trafficking victims controlled by pimps—what they’ll be forced to do.” The organization cites a 2007 study of 854 women in nine countries that found 49% of women “said that porn had been made of them while they were in prostitution, and 47% said they had been harmed by men who had either forced or tried to force their victims to do things the men had seen in porn.”
In other words, when Americans watch porn, they’re fooled into thinking they are always watching free men and women engaging in consensual sexual intercourse. Contrary to the popular image of the porn industry, many women are being forced to have intercourse, be groped, kicked, beaten, etc.
So finally to all my brothers and sisters out there, who rely on these industries to delay their sincere commitment to an actual life partner who would give them a 360 companionship in life, find a girl / boy and settle down, and there is no time like this time. Your delays are fueling a hellish industry which is destroying lives and societies and eventually it will catch up to us at our own back yard. Before you know it our, child, brother or sister will be consumed willingly or unwillingly by this beast and we will not be able to do anything...
