Porch Thieves won't be Stealing from this Engineer!

This guy is my hero today and probably has a pretty good sized fan club as 26 million of us have become victims of Porch Package Thieves! You know who I am talking about. Those mean Grinch-y people who steal your cool gadgets and gizmos for Christmas that are on your front porch? They seem to get more brazen year after year! Now they are hitting suburban neighborhoods in droves and as long as they are quick, they don't have any fear of security cameras either. This is always especially annoying during the holidays. I use the app "Next Door" (like Facebook, but for your neighborhood) and this week alone in my suburban neighborhood, porch pirates appear to be a daily issue. Then when it happened to me this evening, I of course went online looking for a solution! It was then, that I found this story about a former NASA engineer, Mark Rober and how he built the most brillianty engineered booby trap. His goal was to catch some porch pirates in the act and give them something to think about. Perhaps after being hit with deluge of glitter and a can of "fart spray" he thought maybe some of these crooks will look for other career opportunities! He was so committed to this notion, he spent 6 months building this little feat of engineering. What I really enjoyed were all the little touchs and references to the Home Alone series. This was something I could have seen Kevin McAllister using on the bumbling theives, Harry and Marv. This trap was so impressive, turns out Rob is gaining some national attention this week. He is allover ABC, NBC, Fox as well as The Washington Post (where I found him). The WP article can be read here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2018/12/18/porch-pirates-stole-package-an-engineer-so-he-created-trap-using-glitter-fart-spray/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.d32270ecbb01

You have no idea how I regret not falling for one of these adorable nerds when I was in high school! Something my big brother loves to remind me of when I whine about men, lol. Hope you enjoy the video and are not victimized by these awful porch pirates!

Happy Holidays! Tara
