Too toothy, too gappy, too gummy - who knew there could be so many things wrong with your smile? Luckily, there are also many options for fixing it, like clear aligners and veneers.
While we can't all be Hollywood stars - and that's probably for the best; not everyone's cut out for that life - for many of us, the 'Hollywood Smile' is no longer out of reach. With all the advanced cosmetic and orthodontic treatments now available, you and I can have a smile that will make the whole room shimmer.
As you probably know, the two most popular smile makeover procedures today are porcelain veneers and clear aligners - and I'll explain how both work, what they're for, and what they're not for... Well, I'll try anyway, but if you want 100% professional guidance from a leading expert, click here. That'll take you directly to my website. I literally wrote the book on the topic - so if you're looking for advice on veneers and aligners, you could not have come to a better place.
With that out of the way - provided you're still here and not booking your appointment already - let's talk porcelain veneers. The unsung hero of Hollywood.
Porcelain Veneers - What Do They Fix?
As I said, veneers are responsible for the famous 'Hollywood Smile' - they were first used on celebrities and have since become a staple in Hollywood. So much so that people on TikTok started analyzing celebrity smiles and finding similarities - yes, some people really have too much time on their hands!
But I digress - porcelain veneers are a great solution if you have minor aesthetic issues, meaning:
If that's you, good news (well, in a way): your problems can probably be solved with veneers.
But, if you have actual health issues like gum disease, moderate or severe tooth decay, or if you're missing some teeth... you will need to look into other options. Porcelain veneers are not a treatment - they can't actually 'fix' the problem. They're literally a mask for your teeth - so you can hide your problems.
You know like you hide from problems in life... What? Just me? Alright, moving on.
Clear Aligners - What Do They Fix?
Okay, if the above is not you - there's hope for you yet. If you've got a bit more than a crooked tooth or a smile gap, you're probably a good fit for clear aligners. I say probably because 9 out of 10 teeth misalignment problems are mild to moderate - which means, perfect for clear aligners.
Here are just some issues you can fix - yes, actually fix, not just mask - with clear aligners:
But do know that clear aligners are not some magical solution that will be completely painless and super comfortable all the time. While they are more comfortable than traditional braces and can be removed, you still need to be disciplined and wear them at least 22 hours a day. You can take them off when eating of course, which is great because it means you can eat whatever you want.
And let's face it, not having to give up popcorn, chips, nuts, apples, and a bunch of other delicious food is a huge plus!
Porcelain Veneers Vs. Clear Aligners - Which Is Better & Which Should You Get?
I have to tell you that it's a personal decision based on how fast you want your smile makeover, your budget, and are you willing to alter your natural tooth structure to achieve the result. Let me tell you about some of the pros and cons of both veneers and clear aligners.
Porcelain Veneers
Pro - Instant Results: Well, you will need a few appointments, of course, but once you get your veneers, that's it - you instantly get your picture-perfect smile!
Con - They're Irreversible: Okay, this is important so pay attention. To place the veneers, your dentist will have to shave off the enamel from your teeth - and once that's gone it's gone for good. So if you sign up for this, there's no going back.
Clear Aligners
Pro - Can Fix Most Misalignment Issues: As I said, most misalignment issues are mild to moderate, so most issues that can't be masked by veneers, can be fixed by clear aligners. And, of course, the super mild ones, too, if that's what you prefer.
Con - Not An Instant Fix: Clear aligners need to be worn for months, at least. While they're generally faster than traditional braces, they're by no means an 'instant fix'. So just know that you'll need to stay committed - but it's worth it for that perfect smile!
But that's just a few key things - if you're serious about this you need all the info you can get. I'm talking a full breakdown of both procedures, cost analysis, examples from previous patients, etc.
