Simone, the Park Avenue poodle, cheers: “Hi! It’s a bonanza: Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa! The festivities of 2019 are almost here -- I love this time of year!
I hope there is peace on earth and that everyone knows they have worth.
Let’s emphasize what is right, not wrong, and get along.
Let’s make friends and find a way to mend.
People and all pets deserve love in their life and no strife.
Dogs and cats need a forever home and should never roam.
I’m grateful to have Raymond and Grace, my humans and Ricardo, my poodle boyfriend. Ditto for Frank, my dog walker; Jorge, our chef; Francine, my nanny, and Lilly, my stylist. They’re the best. While Ardsley can be in a huff, he’s got the proper butler stuff.
My Christmas wishes are mostly for dog to canine or person interaction.
There are a couple of special things I’d like: daily foot rubs, since my poor poodle paws get tired. Strutting on the NYC streets take a toll on my feet, so massaging my footsies can’t be beat.
I want pumpkin spice cookies and gingerbread. If not, I’ll take Christmas flavored treats, instead.
I hope Mojito, my Chihuahua walking partner, finds one girl to make him happy. Maybe then he won’t be so yappy.
The Chihuahua envisions being surrounded by belly dancing wives and thinks he’s the sexiest pooch alive!
I want to see Santa Claus again at Macy’s and tell him my wishes. Frank will bring me, Ricardo, and Mojito. Santa’s gives great advice and is so nice.
The relatives are coming over for a Christmas feast. Grace is cooking a big turkey with all the trimmings, and I’m dealing with my ‘turkey guilt.’ Try not to think about it when I eat the bird.
The entire family, Jorge, and we canines will be seated at the dining room table. Jorge is baking cakes and pies that entice the eye: chocolate ganache cake, black forest cake, apple strudel, cherry/cranberry pie, and pumpkin pie! My, oh, my!
Dessert’s galore, and there’s more: He’s also making a tasty dog-friendly cake that he got the recipe for.
Ardsley will serve and crossing my paws that he doesn’t bicker with Jorge, who he views as his rival. Picture Superman and that’s Jorge -- suave gourmet chef and lady charmer.
Then there’s snippy butler Ardsley, who can’t understand why his English training doesn’t get him the gals. He should compare notes with Mojito!
Anyway, it will be an eventful day.
I’m as happy as can be that Ricardo will sit next to me.
FYI, I got Ricardo red and green holiday pajamas to keep him cozy when he gets dozy. It may be cold outside, but we'll cuddle inside.
The holidays will cast their spell. Can’t you tell?
My pet parents give me a wonderful home, and I've written a special tome.
My Christmas tribute to them sums it all up, since I’m one lucky pup (dictated to Frank’s I-Phone):
Cookies in festive designs . . . Some are yours, and some are mine. Coated with sprinkles and icing, they’re very enticing.
Cupcakes with pretty frosted tops . . . Candy canes and lollipops . . . Macarons and whipped cream mounds . . . Sweets abound.
Gingerbread men, but where are the ladies? Maybe they’re home taking care of the gingerbread babies.
Hot cocoa and peppermint mocha ... Floating marshmallows for girls and fellas ...
Snowmen and colored balls . . . Glistening lights on buildings that are tall . . . This season has it all!
Hanukkah lights glow in the night.
Beautiful decorations befit the wonderful occasions.
Vibrant bows and sweet holiday TV shows . . .
Santa who is jolly and red holly . . .
Lots of laughter for girls and boys, and reindeers that have poise . . .
Santa's elves stack toys on shelves. Soon Santa will deliver the gifts far away on his sleigh.
Perfect poodle pirouetting for me to “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky!
Entrancing everyone I meet and prancing down the street ...
Dogs bark and people chat, and I’ve been known to befriend a cat.
Snowflakes scattered on the windowpanes . . . Playing fun games . . .
Romance is in the air and the desire to share.
Daddy smooches mom under the mistletoe. What’s gotten into him? I don’t know.
Doing lots of shopping and hanging whimsical stockings . . .
Fragrant Christmas trees and scrumptious goodies, if you please!
Music playing and people swaying . . .
Hearing Christmas songs and singing along . . .
It’s the holidays, and this wish is from me to you.
Merry Christmas, Raymond and Grace. The love I have for you can't be replaced.
You can buy me clothes and toys, like a shiny ball, but what I really want, will give me the most joy of all.
Spend time with me, and I’ll be as happy as can be.
Being together makes us strong, and I feel like I belong.
Gaze into my eyes with a daily dose of surprise.
Admire my inimitable poodle style. Give me a big smile.
Keep me warm and protect me from harm.
Give me relaxing back rubs. Let me soak in a bubbly tub.
Pamper me with gardenia or rose bath gel. My astute canine nose can tell.
Shower me with pets. Dry me when I’m wet.
Brush my soft poodle hair. Read me bedtime stories, like 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.'
Tuck me in, and let my pleasant dreams begin.
It’s a terrific time of the year, to be with the ones who are dear.
I miss you all day and hope you’re glad that you’re my mom and dad.
I can’t wait for your key to open the door cause’ your poodle couldn’t adore you more.
Here come doggie hugs and lots of love! Wouldn’t mind if you wrap my four paws in cashmere gloves.
You can take me for walks . . . We can have heart-to-heart talks . . . But whatever it is, I’ll always be your poodle kid.
So, let your cares fly away, and appreciate all the good that comes your way.
Oh, and your poodle, Simone, would like a big rib eye steak bone. Sirloin is also nice, and please season with a yummy spice.
Mommy and pop: You’re the tops!
And, Ricardo, my poodle beau, thanks for making me the happiest girl I know.
My holiday and year-round advice: Be very nice.
For your wishes to come true, just be your best you.
May your heart be filled with love and your home filled with joy. This applies to young and old, people and pets, and girls and boys.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa!
Have a ball! And that’s all!’
P.S. First doggie pic: Frank took me to see Santa, and Ricardo and Mojito came, too. Santa said he’ll grant my romantic Christmas wishes gladly and Ricardo’s. As for Mojito’s desire for a harem, Santa told him: ‘Ho, ho, ho! I don’t know. That’s too much, so why not look for one pup?’
The photo of the Chihuahua is Mojito, dressed up by Frank. ‘I look silly,’ Mojito scoffed, but I said, 'Maybe an actual girl will like you.' And he replied, 'Si! I’m the sultan! Senoritas: Feliz Navidad!’"

4 年Excellent festive read! And the pictures were wonderful, too! The Poodles deserve a great illustrator like the Madeleine books. Merry Christmas doggies!
