THE POODLES OF PARK AVENUE BY KAREN-CHERIE COGANE CHEER FOR AUTUMN 2021!

THE POODLES OF PARK AVENUE BY KAREN-CHERIE COGANE CHEER FOR AUTUMN 2021!

“Hi! It’s Simone, the Park Avenue poodle, and it’s not surprising that Autumn is on the horizon.

Countdown! Fall will arrive at 3:20 p.m. today. Hooray!

Mother nature has her majestic way and is here to say: ‘Get ready for the splendor of Fall!’

Yes, it’s the new season that is unbelievably pleasing.

Glorious beauty surrounds, and vivid leaves are scattered on the ground.

Ah, the colors of the season . . . Bright orange, red, and yellow foliage accentuate the trees and are a visual display on any day.

The spotlight is on cakes and pies -- a feast for our tummies and eyes. Pumpkin, apple, and bursting berry creations, and baking at home enter center stage. Never taking a back seat, just prepare to eat and eat.

And the always loved cupcakes and muffins with Autumn flavors for us to savor . . .

Fall spices entice. Sprinkle in nutmeg, ginger, vanilla, and cinnamon to enjoy during a meal, a snack, or on a whim.

Let’s be clear: I did have a great time at the Long Island shore, and summer life was hardly a bore. But there’s something special about this time of year.

First, I’ll rewind: I ate juicy peaches and strolled on the Amagansett beach.

Seashells, starfish, and sand showed off the scenic land.

Not that I am boasting, but I romped with my handsome beau, Ricardo in the Atlantic Ocean. Sometimes, courtesy of my parents, nighttime marshmallows were a toasting.

When the tide rolled in, mommy made delicious din. We sat on the deck and ate, and the Long Island seafood and steak were great.

Kept refreshed and tres cool by splashing in my pool.

Played and frolicked during the sunny days.

I did not get too much of a sheen since I wore doggie sunscreen. Not trying to be picky, but it felt a little sticky.

Smaller gatherings due to the corona virus, were hosted by Raymond and Grace at our Hamptons place. My folks are vaccinated which is so appreciated.

But to be on the safe side, people wore masks and social distanced.

Mom planned our social life, and she is such a good wife. She always cheers dad up and gave more attention to me, her pup.

Back in the city, my poodle feet felt the pavement summer heat. Paw rubs and massages can’t be beat.

Frank walked us to other NYC streets, and we explored new eats.

Yahoo! We returned to Café Beaucoup! Frank escorted me, Ricardo, and the nutty Mojito. The Chihuahua had his typical complaining about everything bow-wow.

But now let’s have a ball in Fall!

Enter sweater weather. Dogs wear them, too. Don’t you?

Wrap yourself in a comfy onesie or an oversized sweater when watching TV or movies.

People will change the clocks and kids will don knee socks. Little ones carry juice boxes.

The tykes finally returned to their school. The air gets crisp and cool.

Eager faces were thrilled to come back to their classroom spaces.

It’s time for kids to learn interesting things and hear the school bell ring.

Reading and writing are exciting.

Children have yearned for:

New school supplies to make young minds feel wise.

Lunch boxes filled with sandwiches and snacks, and charms dangling from backpacks.

Hitting the books and getting cubbies or nooks.

Meeting your teacher and cheering your team on the bleachers.

‘Hi! Haven’t seen you in a while!’ your buds say as they come up to you and smile.

Re-connecting in person with old friends and being introduced to those who are new: ‘How do you do?’

Parents resume picking up their mini-me, as they stroll down the street: ‘What do you want to eat? What is your homework tonight? And I hope you didn’t fight.’

I’ll still scamper with Ricardo and Mojito in the leaves in Central Park, as our dog walker escorts us home before dark.

With such agility and panache, my talented boyfriend catches the Frisbee with a dash. He’s such a natural athlete, and I love to watch him perform feats.

I watch Ricardo in pride, as I stand by his side: ‘It’s not my Beauty Day, so toss me one, okay?’

‘Pop some in for me to eat!’ Ricardo and I say as Frank offers us bacon treats.

As for the difficult Mojito, he ‘settles’ for the treats, but would rather have Fritos to eat.

I have so much fun playing in the leaves.

But when Mojito gets covered with leaves, the Chihuahua heaves and gets peeved. Frank picks him up: ‘It’s just a little mess, so stop being stressed.’

I love to watch TV shows that premiere at this time of year. I want new fun and am tired of reruns. Dramas, comedies, and dance and music reality TV for my family and me.

Anticipating Halloween arriving soon with ghosts, witches, goblins, and a full moon.

I hope there will be trick or treating. Even though I’m a doggie, I love candy. I sneak tastes, since I wouldn’t want Halloween to go to waste.

We’ll have a Halloween bash at home, but just give me my sweets, some human stuff, and my sirloin steak bone.

Costumes for people and pooches galore. And there’s more.

Hot chocolate topped with marshmallows for girls and fellas ...

Whipped cream mounds abound. Leaf shaped cookies emerge all around town.

Picking pumpkins and apples, and sipping hot cider, and fall flavored Snapple . . .

Hayrides and watching football . . . Whether it’s college or the NFL, routing for your favorite team is keen. The roar of 'Touchdown!' is heard all around town! Eating chips, dip, and snacks as you cheer and relax . . .

The holidays come after, as we share food and laughter.

Do you ponder how a poodle like me has this point of view? Sometimes I wonder, too.

Give a lot of thanks, even though you put away your summer shorts, swimsuits, and tanks.

Today’s a new day. Yay!

Let’s be happy, not sad, and make your parents proud and glad.

Have an upbeat Autumn attitude, and you’ll be in a new season good mood.

Think of the great fashion for Fall, whether you are petite or tall.

Working at home you wore relaxed clothes, but many people are now back to the office, so put on your spiff!

The new trends are certainly stunning . . . effortlessly chic . . . unequivocally beautiful . . . undeniably stylish . . . surely sexy . . .

With nouveau clothing and upbeat colors to wear, innovation and jubilation is in the air.

Some hues emulate the autumn season and with good reason. Other shades brighten up chillier days. Either way, do it your way!

Don't want to gloat, but please take note.

And here they are – the Fall 2021 colors and styles that will make you smile:

1. Pink

2. Orange

3. Yellow

4. Fuchsia livens up any look and brightens the face. Just ask my mother, Grace. From dresses to sweaters, jewelry, and shoes, fuchsia’s such a becoming hue. If you want to tone down the super bright, pair it with grey, camel or ivory neutrals.

5. The lovely appeal of Lavender. Goes with many shades and is the Fall rage.

6. Purple looks royal and pairs well with Burgundy. Maybe sip some Merlot and strike a pose.

7. Metallics are ‘It.’ Running the whole gamut from frocks to tops, slacks, bags, earrings, and heels, metallics have much appeal.

8. The power of wearing Red. Deep rich reds or bright for day or night. Incorporate the primary color into your tailored suits or wear a LRD, instead of a LBD. Red gives you that ‘je ne sais quoi.’ It’s not for blending in a group, but for standing out.

9. The blue tone of Indigo. Comes in puffers, dresses, and denim, and are decidedly “In.”

10. Warm up your wardrobe with the colors of Clay, Burnt Orange, Marigold, or Pumpkin. They liven up any autumn day. Try one or many in sweater dresses, overcoats, or short jackets. Mix and match with brown when you’re at home or for a night on the town.

11. Will you have breakfast wearing the hue of Toast? Why not wear it on the bottom or top for color pop?

12. Evergreen – the rich and popular color for Fall goes with just about everything.

13. Army Green is also quite keen. Elevate your style with minis, patent leather jackets, and tie-dye prints. Go all out or wear just a hint. If you choose match with Army Green booties or shoes.

14. Silver is not just for celebratory holidays, but to put ‘oomph’ into every day. Silver hues in blazers, knits that are cable, and skirts with pleats can’t be beat.

15. Or opt for a show-stopping metallic dress. Alternate with metallic striped tops, pleated metallic skirts, and metallic blazers. You’ll be a fashion trailblazer!

16. Color-block has hit its stride, and as a ‘in the know poodle,’ I say this with pride. Color-blocked and mixed media patterns will make heads turn.

17. Step to the head of math class with geometric prints that have sass. Graphic sweaters, tops, dresses, bags, slacks, and jackets are ‘It.

18. Fall plaids never go out of style, so try tartan, gingham, and checkered to make you feel Autumn glad. Select plaid loafers, slacks, bags, pants, tops, and frocks to make your wardrobe rock. They’re classy for a lassie.

19. Or opt for patchwork, quilted, paisley, brocade, and pinstripes. Or for a preppy style choose argyle.

20. Very feminine florals -- Spring’s take on flowers but longer sleeves and maxis. Or bold statement florals in blouses and dresses, and pants. Now, dance!

21. Tiered mini dresses that are tie-dyed catch the eye. Pair solid minis with textured tights to add spice.

22. Cotton lace dresses go well with wavy tresses.

27. Retro Rosie Georgie Dress.’ Graceful and ladylike.

28. 'Sartorial Jacket.' Tailored and polished to the max jacket.

29. Peony Shirt Dress. Proper, yet flowing. Perhaps some afternoon crumpets and tea? Sounds good to me.

30. A ‘Christy Dress,’ maybe in polka dots. Behold the bold!

31. A fab skirt puts feminine and ladylike into your weekday look. Voila -- a new take on professional. Liven up the otherwise ordinary, and you’ll be extraordinary.

32. Hemp skirts with pleats in pretty patterns will make heads turn.

33. Do a ‘Felicia Rib-Knit Skirt’ spin. You’ve got a win-win!

34. Wrapped skirts in indigo denim show off the waist.

35. Short-sleeved blouses that are smocked are hot.

36. Lattice-Front blouses provide allure, but not for the demure.

37. Blouses or sweaters with dolman sleeves. Oui, please!

38. Jacquard bodysuits are sexy and cute. Let’s just say that bodysuits are having their day!

39. Decorative crystal on tops and frocks. Swarovski or not, jewels on fashion, a little or a lot. Give the look all that you've got.

40. Cropped tanks are not just for the Gen X, Y, and Z crowds. Now say that loud. Often paired with matching skirts or slacks, they’re all over the racks. Put on a knit short top, and you’ll get admiration non-stop.

41. Lively matching sets are the best yet. Tanks and sweaters that match. Natch. Look put together during Fall weather.

42. Rib knit cropped cardis for casual or even a party.

43. Tie-front terry knit sweaters. No buttons or snaps -- It’s a wrap!

44. Or wear an open sweater and reveal what is underneath, maybe a sheath? Or cinch with a belt that makes your waist appear svelte, and keep your sweater closed. Then do a ‘Look at me!’ pose.

45. What could be better than a Cashmere blend sweater? Luxury at an affordable price is so nice.

46. Shackets, now in hemp, twill, and other varieties will surely please.

47. Interlocking jackets are great for a little Fall breeze. Wear one with ease.

48. Military jackets are on-trend. Short or a little long, their image is strong.

49. Cotton tapered pants are sleek, polished, and stylish.

50. Stretchy leggings figure flatter. Chic in color block, solids and patterns leggings are very much in style, and presumably, for a long while. Ponte, polyester, cotton, or blends, on them you can depend.

51. Joggers are not just workout wear; They’re stylish and lounge -- slounge wear. Don exciting prints and get ready for stares!

52. Jeans that have stripes down the side, slits, deconstructed, floral, or creature designs, they are sublime. Some are made from hemp, and most are cotton/poly blends with stretch, and are fetching. Select bootcut, skinny, higher waist, or straight, and you will look great.

53. Belted shorts show off your gams. Tuck in your blouse or tee, and you’ll be sporty, yet pretty.

54. Fleece becomes chic. Full of shape and style . . . In camo, animal, tie dye, and bold designs, they are so fine.

55. Faux leather, aka vegan, in sleek and stretch leggings give allure, for sure. Why not top them with a tunic or a textured sweater?

56. Thin wale or wide corduroy now has give and stretch. It comes in bottoms and tops and has a soft feel for real.

57. Take it up a notch -- Dressing to the nines is sublime! Hug your body with the plushest fabrics in sophisticated silhouettes. Velvet and velour -- Who could ask for more?

58. Coats, short or long, with piping are more than exciting. Or consider cold weather quilted versions or puffers that figure flatter.

59. Shoes for autumn come in many colors and styles: block heels, red shoes in various types, pumps, and much more! Just look online or in the stores. Why not strike up the band wearing red on your feet and tap to the beat? Or be more traditional, yet sensational in pumps. Kitten heels have much appeal --not very high, but my, oh, my.

60. And who can forget boots? Wear booties, shooties, or boots a la knee high -- My, oh my. Ankle boots, western inspired boots, chunky heels, and lace-up boots. Or step into croc effect boots, and show off your gams. Yes, ma'am! A multitude of styles in suede, pleather, and leather.

64. Quirky accessories. From over-sized sunnies, to vivid scarves, to handles on bags that are over-the-top, and bright socks.

65. Dazzle with jewelry befitting the new season: Rock-shaped earrings, button-like dangling versions, geometric necklaces and those that look kind of space age, stretchy tennis chokers, and eye-catching rings are the new bling. You might say: ‘Weird is the thing.’

Add a few pieces or a lot, and you'll be fashionable non-stop!

And now, listen up for tips on new Autumn makeup:

A quick summary of makeup for Fall 2021: A Burgundy lip is hip, as are full brows, and deep and smoky hues of eyeshadow for you.

Why not be dramatic in your color choices? You can focus on your lips, eyes, cheeks, lips, or your full face. Forget predictable -- Add an element of surprise.

Go with a new lip, eyeshadow, bronzer, eyeliner, or mascara.

Experiment with pretty eyeshadows. Palettes offer a range of coordinated colors. Whether it’s earthy and warm tones of browns, shades of grey, plum, orange, rust, burgundy, and berry, you’ll find the colors befitting you.

Other Top Makeup Trends:

The Kitten Eye with a smaller flick does the trick.

Very long lashes, even if it means adding some false ones. Or try special lengthening mascaras. Prefer top brands, and use a gentle hand.

The return of the bold lip in the form of lipstick, gloss, balm, and tint. Play up your pout and go out. Color your lips for the Autumn season or any shade that you think is pleasing.

Rich wine-colored shades are the rage. Comes in shiny and matte. How about that? Gloss or lipstick -- It's your pick. As your beautiful face and personality shine, why not taste a French, New Zealand, or California wine?

Intense black eyeliner on your lashline and/or your waterline.

Or treat your eyes to unexpected orange eyeliner. Why not pair it with beautiful auburn hair?

For a real eye-popping look, try graphic two-tone eyeliner.

Dewy, glowing skin. Otherwise worn for just daytime, dewy skin steps out into the evening. Imagine lit-from-within skin. You might not need foundation and concealer; Using a priming moisturizer can create the effect. Can pair it with a neutral lip and eyeshadow.

Natural full brows -- Wow! To give a very open eye look, you can groom your eyebrows upward. Or use the many great eyebrow pencils, stencils, and enhancers on the market, such as from Benefit, It Cosmetics, Too Faced, and more.

Highlight a little for day or a lot for night. You’ll know what is right. Highlighter on the cheekbones creates an ethereal look. Think brands like Too Faced, Becca, MAC, Urban Decay, and NARS. And wearing highlighter doesn’t make you look like you’re from Mars. Accent with a highlighter brush, using light strokes, and you’ll have a lovely glow.

Mascara in striking colors, including blue, black, purple, amber, or white, livens up any night. Flutter your lashes, and let the compliments begin.

And as for statement-making lips, don’t forget about the drama of red. You’ll be striking and to everyone’s liking. Va-Va-Voom when you are in any room or Zoom! Amp up your vamp!

Accentuate with bronzer to make yourself Autumn real with a cozy and sunny feel. Dab it on your cheek, or bronze gloss on your lips. Pick up your chin, and then stick out your hips. Confidence personified, show your pride.

Summer may be done, but Fall has just begun!

There are so many options, but your makeup doesn’t have to scream and shout. Feeling good about yourself is what it’s all about.

Perhaps you can tone down your makeup if you’re wearing a feminine outfit. You might go for a dramatic looking face if you wear fake or real leather, or metallics. Or you can do the opposite. Just have fun. Wear a lot or just a bit. Change your look if it strikes your fancy.

And who doesn’t want a well-dressed dog? That's a no brainer. Best of all, here are the pooch trends for Fall:

1. Doggie pj’s are the rage. When it’s sleepy time, your pooches will look mighty fine. Try pajamas in lively patterns or cute words. Or opt for night dresses. And let the dreams begin.

2. Canine sweaters a la turtlenecks and woven knits are a hit. Made from cotton, polyester, and acrylic, they keep Rover or Fifi warm when it’s cold outside. Not to mention how cute they are. How about preppy argyle or houndstooth for your four-legged friend?

3. Dog vests are the best. In Autumn hues, and chic patterns, heads will turn.

4. Bow ties for pooches and diamond (fake or real) are great accessories for the holidays. Why not dress up your pet as a mermaid or a tuxedo gent?

5. Be creative but ensure safety in costumes with beads, sequins, or sparkling stones for your dog.

6. Fashion-forward pooches go for metallics. Other doggies will be green with envy, as dazzling canines strut and shine.

7. Custom collars, leashes, and name tags add swag.

8. Footwear as in booties to keep your furry cutie's precious paws warm. Or give your city pup plush slippers for hims and hers.

9. Decorative socks for your canine keep its feet secure, for sure.

10. Raincoats for dogs are on-trend, and here’s the scoop: They’re lightweight, often reversible, and waterproof.

Your canines will look glamorous, but just make sure that fabrics are comfy and don’t give your adored pet the itches or irritation.

Who knows? Your sophisticated dog might even do a GQ, Vanity Fair, or Vogue pose!

My mother’s a fashionista, and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Oui, I’m talking about poodle me!

I'm a high-class canine, can’t you tell? Prepared to cast my spell.

In early Autumn, I prefer doggie dresses to accentuate my white tresses.

Rest assured that we’ll showcase looks that belong in major style books. Grace shows me the big Fall fashion mags, and I respond with tail wags.

Outfits for both mommy and me will make me happy as can be.

How about coordinating your clothes with your human for a lunch date?

I love pajamas, so I want matching pjs, so we can have a slumber party. Grace doesn’t have white poodle hair or pompoms, but she is my mom!

So, turn on the TV, pop the popcorn, add a snuggling throw, and Grace, Ricardo, and me will watch romantic movies. I love to kick back and relax. Daddy can join us, but we’ll need a bigger blanket.

Whatever we wear, we’ll stand out and have clout.

I’ll be the star of the Manhattan blocks in my Fall 2021 frocks!

And guess what? Savvy designers have matched colors in clothes to my favorite drink.

The award goes to the whipped cream topped Pumpkin Spice Latte, which reappears this time of year! Sprinkle pumpkin pie spice on top to make it delicious non-stop! It is the beverage delight that’s oh, so right.

Or try the new Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew.

Wouldn’t it be nice to entice with doggie-friendly Pumpkin Spice?

Pooches should enjoy the flavors of the season, and here is my reason: Frustrated from drinking Frank’s PSL when he looks away. My white whiskers turn sticky and orangey, and it’s a give-away.

May I come into the café and stay, and have my own Pumpkin Spice Latte?

I know I’m a poodle, and don’t go to typical work, but in the a.m., I need a definite perk.

When I parade doing my Park Avenue chasse, bien sur, I’m always on display.

'Have you seen me in THE POODLES OF PARK AVENUE book?’ I ask as I do my self-assured strut, and people stop, and look.

My author, Karen-Cherie Cogane, had inspiration, and I am her creation.

It’s not said in jest that I must be at my best.

Je suis Simone, and here’s my poodle advice: Please, café owners and baristas, be dog-friendly and very nice.

Create coffee, lattes, and hot cocoa for man’s best friend, upon who you depend. The phrase, ‘Merci beaucoup!' will have no end!

When you feel a little chill, remember still -- It’s time to bid Summer, adieu.

Start anew, and best wishes for a good autumn to you.

And have fun-way on the fashion runway!

Perhaps you’ll say ‘Bonjour!’ to a terrific new furry friend with legs of four, whom you’ll adore.
