PolyLester Newsletter
???? Hi there. It’s been a while. Connections, coincidences, and creations have yet again navigated us through extraordinary times. And as our elastic world stretches between extremes, we intent to keep nurturing inventiveness, comprehension, and open-mindedness. For PolyLester this means working on projects that embellish the world and those who inhabit it. We want to thank all those who enjoy our works and everyone who has been – or will be – part of our projects. See you in the future and have a nice day. ????
Gabriel Lester / PolyLester
Since we have not had the chance to look back at last year yet, we’ll first feature two of our most visible and appreciated projects that were realised in 2022.
Realisation: Summer 2022
Location: Amsterdam
Client: Capital C & the municipality of Amsterdam
Contractor: Grijsen Park & Straatdesign
Weesperplein in the heart of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has been transformed into a bustling and welcoming urban oasis. Motion often seems to have stopped for Polylester art and design. Like a frozen moment, where time stands still but everyone’s welcome to stay. The expressive sculptures that make up Peel Plaza are meant to reflect just such a temporal intervention in time. Under our feet and above our heads, time is unfolding in three-dimensional space.
Realisation: Winter 2022-2023
Location: Amsterdam
Client: Amsterdam Light Festival - Edition 11
Contractor: Air Design Studio Erik van Dongen
Is it a spaceship? Or an unknown creature? For the Amsterdam Light Festival, we punched another hole in the sky. Developed from the first set of voids, as installed, and performed at the Istanbul Biennale in 2013, the new hole is a portal. An airborne sculpture. Floating in time and space and directing views onto a world beyond.
PostNL
Realisation: Spring 2023
Location: The Hague, The Netherlands
Client: PostNL
Contractor: Neon-Wek
A sculpture sequence of neon and metal paper sheets morphing into airborne birds circling the tower of the building. This artwork will grace the fa?ade of the new headquarters of the Dutch post, housed in a national monument of the 1930’s.

Spanning 16 meters in length and 3.5 meters height, “Layover” divides a busy ring road between two small cities, creating a public pocket park where over 3000 youths cycle past to and from school every day. The site, designed to be both a landmark and meeting point, invites those who pass by to layover; to pause and relax before continuing ones journey.
