The Politics of Heaven
I am certain that we all remember the lesson learned from making an assumption (assume). The reminder is that: you make an ass (out of) u (and) me.
The belief that heaven is a “better” place, the ultimate landing spot, is faith based of course. It is also an assumption based on ancient texts. The lines from the Eagles song – Hotel California- may be prophetic: “This may be Heaven or this may be Hell.” Also in the same song: “You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave.”
What if there is cosmic evidence that heaven may not be all that it is purported to be? To further muddy the waters, what if our current existence is in fact the dread Hades (Hell, Fire and Damnation etc.)?
The grass is always greener on the other side of the hill. This is a cosmic truth. Tomorrow will be better than today. The future will be brighter than the present. These are common human beliefs that are in place to help us survive the bad times.
Heaven, in many regards will be, or is, as frustrating and incomprehensible as our current existence. That sometimes helpless frustration you may feel about your local, provincial (state) or federal government carries on. Heaven is not some chaotic environment with anarchy (no control) and free thought reigning supreme. This is not how the universe works. The organization we call Heaven is a well oiled machine.
Let’s examine the evidence on the ground in front of you. Observe the humble ants. Do they have a supreme leader? Are they organized to serve the greater good, serve their Queen, and sacrifice comfort for the survival of the organization? Follow the food chain upwards and the model is the same from ant to Global Super Power.
Ancient China, Egypt, Greece all the way to modern day Russia, China and North Korea. This is the natural order of the cosmos, a universal norm. Heaven is a part of the cosmos. It stands to reason that it will follow the exact same norm. Water always comes to rest at its lowest point. Nature abhors a vacuum.
There is stronger evidence in the ancient texts that we use to mold our lives. The Hebrew bible for example (Old Testament) speaks about a revolution in heaven. A revolution. A struggle for power. The evolution of the heavenly bureaucracy. This is a text that millions of earthlings still take literally.
Fidel Castro succeeded where Lucifer (Satan, The Devil etc.) failed. Lucifer’s revolution failed. Lucifer and his fellow revolutionaries were cast out, banished. They set up a new colony. These were not bad or evil beings as certain propaganda would have us believe. They were failed revolutionaries. We currently live in that new colony. We are the Australia of the cosmos perhaps.
"Satan was once an honored angel in heaven, next to Christ. . . . But when God said to His Son, "Let us make man in our image," Satan was jealous of Jesus. He wished to be consulted concerning the formation of man, and because he was not, he was filled with envy, jealousy, and hatred. He desired to receive the highest honors in heaven next to God. Until this time all heaven had been in order, har-mony, and perfect subjection to the government of God."—Early Writings
Here is a heads up. Perhaps heaven will be free of disease, hunger, poverty (per se) and all those other pesky negatives we dread and abhor so much. If heaven follows the natural flow of the universe, which I assert that it will, it will not be the heaven we envisage. Hopefully it will not also be an episode of “The Hunger Games” films either.
There will be a form of government that will be as familiar and as frustrating to you as your current systems and governments. Perhaps less brutal than North Korea, but certainly as incomprehensible as our Western bureaucracies. This is a given. Water will always be wet. The universe (Heaven) will not magically transform into another form of organization unfamiliar to you now. Ironically, my current (not very useful) Masters degree in Political Science will serve me better on my heavenly resume.
The irony (and tragedy) of suicide is that you maybe indeed be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. When Great Grampa passes on, we say” “He has gone to a better place.” Has he indeed. Better is a relative term to many. I suggest that it may be in your best interest to not rush headlong to the next incarnation if indeed you are offered any choice in this regard.
The grass will not be greener on the other side of existence. It will still be grass. When I meet you there, hopefully in the very distant future, I will refrain from telling you annoyingly: “I told you so”.

8 年It's my pleasure to read this article. Very lucky to have a wonderful reading experience. Thinking, smiling and laughing... Nowadays, most of the articles which we read are only have form instead of content, not to mention thoughts. But your article is totally different. It stands out, completely striped off "mediocre". So it's a bless to the author, and is a gift to we readers. I love the way you expressed your thoughts, of course, I admire an author with great thoughts first. The humors sparkle between the lines, like the diamonds in the crown. The closing is amazing! I love it so much! I don't know if I should smile or cry when it really happen in another life. Maybe the best way to keep me silly but happy is to avoid know you in the next life? Because...you really know toooo much!

8 年Interesting perspective - I agree that we shouldn't rush towards something 'better/greener' than what we know - live in the moment (as best you can)!
