On August 17, 2020, as part of the effort to transfer the NYPD press credentialing process to another entity, I hosted a press conference at Foley Square, in lower Manhattan
Speakers include New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Senator Brad Hoylman, newly elected Assemblywomen Emily Gallagher, and reps for NYC Attorney General Tish James and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges.
These were the issue and actions that a coalition of photojournalists, reporters, writers, lawyers, professors, filmmakers, and political allies put forth.
1. Reject The Broad Terms of the NYPD's Proposed Rules For Suspension Of Press Credentials.
2. Call For The NYPD Press Credentialing Process To Be Transferred To Another Agency
3. Demand Mayor De Blasio To Issue A Binding Resolution To Protect Current Press Card Holders
