Political Twist: Sita Soren Joins BJP Amidst Hemant Soren's Land Scam Controversy

In a surprising turn of events, Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Her decision to switch parties comes nearly two months after Hemant Soren's arrest in connection with a land scam case.

Sita Soren expressed her dissatisfaction at not being considered for the Chief Minister position within her family and cited a lack of recognition from her former party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), as reason for her move to the BJP. At an event in New Delhi, she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, and Amit Shah, emphasizing the need for change in Jharkhand and the protection of tribal interests.

The JMM has expressed shock at Sita Soren's decision, calling it unfortunate and urging patience amidst the party's internal challenges. MP Mahua Maji highlighted the strength of the JMM and its alliance, expressing confidence in continuing the legacy of Shibu Soren and Champai Soren.

Sita Soren's entry into the BJP is seen as a significant advantage for the party, potentially leveraging the legacy of JMM's stalwart leaders to make inroads into the regional party's core voter base.
