POLITICAL LEADERS

Unless your dreams are crazy enough, people won't laugh at them! Smile back, walk away and change the world in silence
Perhaps one of the most ambiguous definitions of our contemporary era. Not only those who wish to arise in the political stage but also us, the voters, rather often misconstrue the true meaning behind that concept. Political fame and popularity are quite often entangled with mendacities, not always intentionally, because the political conundrums of a country are always more intricate than how media, political campaigns, societal propaganda and opportunism present them to be. Politicians are not the impeaching saviours of our everlasting problems. Unfortunately, our deeply ingrained belief that others will resolve our problems for us, is thriving. This can’t and shouldn’t be our pursuit. Anyone among us can elevate to a ‘political’ prestigious position, not by getting elected per say but by showing empathy for the world around him. There is an exigent need to overcome the political armlock through an educational standpoint, otherwise we will all be facing an inevitable imminent ominous future. Today, I decided to get my thoughts out there finally, because I witness a country, Greece, debilitated from the death of it’s younger force. Once again, this morning I read about a 28-year-old young adult, who left his last breath on the cold cement of a road. It wasn’t speed and it wasn’t the lethal strike on his head that killed him. It was lack of education. And it definitely was our ignorance to the latter. Our schools need to change. We can’t pretend that gaining theoretical and practical knowledge to end up enrolling in the University, will suffice to change this world. We need to increase the awareness of our youngest generation to this world’s iniquities. The death of that young man along with so many others that have passed away due to speed naivete and carelessness is only one example. What is going on with homeless? What is going on with drug addictions? What is going on in the rest of the world? War, slavery, dictatorship regimes, hunger, contaminated water, spread of diseases and so many more abhorrent tragedies. One can argue, well, that such an ‘accident’ has nothing to do with what happens in the rest of the world. Dearth of education is the common denominator and only if we accept it as our greatest weapon can we prevent all these malevolent situations. Let’s start with ourselves. Let’s lock in our room and delve deep into our consciousness. Why don’t we ask ourselves if we are happy with the way the world works? Why don’t we use Internet to embrace what is going on at the other corner of the planet? We can no longer plea ignorance, just because we are too far away to see with our own eyes. We have the tools to do it. We are just trapped in our daily routine and our indolence is as fierce as gravity. As far as we are not affected, it is absolutely fine to stay inert. We have to put an end to this. Unless we decide it for ourselves nobody else can do it for us. Let’s have a shift in our perspective of the world. Authority, power, knowledge and money can’t save us unless we discover our passion to pursue any kind of change. What we need is an indomitable will, an intransigent conviction and then we can embark on that journey. Let’s change ourselves first and the world will follow. But it’s always our choice. Let’s inspire others with our actions and not with prevaricating arguments for our own profit. Let’s guide our children and delineate an ethical and compassionate mindset that will motivate them to take matters into their own hands. Our children are the most pristine judges of this world’s corrupted morals, because they have not been manipulated yet from our own preceding failures. It is our duty to protect them and lead them to become our great leaders.
