Is Political Correctness Hurting us all?

What I write here is probably going to get me flamed - but - so be it, it's time for me to not be politically correct.

Recently I've noticed a trend in various WhatsApp groups that I'm in - and one that I left, where, the rules are such that political correctness rules the day and as a result, individuals can admit to things, say things, do things, but because of fear of offending people, no one may ever call them on these things.

When people take openly anti-vax stances or grotesque conspiracy stances in groups. Apparently you aren't allowed to call people on these things because while making the statements is acceptable - telling people off for ignoring science is "off topic" and "not politically correct".

When individuals openly admit to things that border on straight up illegal - you can't call them on that either. You also can't call people on facilitating academic cheating by taking money to write peoples assignments for them - despite the fact that it results in still more clueless people entering the market every day.

Group after group I am finding this as a trend - where conspiracy theories, fake news, ignoring science, open admission of corruption etc etc continues - and the admins of the groups don't seem to have the heart to do anything about it - other than to stop those who call people on it.

And yeah - this is a bit of a rant post - but it saddens me when I see groups like KCFSA which could be of so much use tolerating the behaviour that they do with absolutely no recourse against the nut jobs - thereby destroying what could be a useful and solid group.

Maybe its time to stop being so politically correct - and calling a spade a spade - and saying enough - when people endorse nut job conspiracy theories - push anti-vax nonsense - admit to corruption etc etc. Maybe we should all stop feeding the pigeons and be willing to take a stand, otherwise where will it all end?
