Politely, properly & at pace
I’m celebrating 4 years with Seedlip, it has been a truly transformational journey.
The three P’s are the bedrock of our culture & work ethic at Seedlip, politely, properly and at pace.
Politely, manners matter, internally and externally. Say please and thank you, respect one another’s time, process and work. This is the thread that runs through how we work.
How does this show up in our day-to-day working lives? It comes down to respecting other human beings, respecting their time, respecting their busy ness, respecting that everyone wants to do good work and everyone is capable, complete and responsible.
Good communication is the backbone of manners, good clear communication saves time, saves confusion.
Properly, take the time to sweat the small stuff. It takes more thought and consideration to do something simply with clarity.
This shows up by doing few things better, high production values, personal touches, great taste in everything we do. We do a lot of stuff in-house at Seedlip that other brands use agencies for, this enables us to be close to the work, hands-on and have single minded, laser beam focus.
Pace – you can do something properly and at pace, it’s a good tension to hold to move with precision and speed. Focus is paramount to keep up the momentum and pace. We pioneered a new category, which is now 5.5 years old. We had to learn as we grew, there were no benchmarks, no category norms. It gave us a lot of freedom to test and learn, fail, experiment and innovate.
This shows up day-to-day with fast decision making, we work on slack, we have a flat structure and we analyse and assimilate data and information so that we can be decisive. We empower our team members to make decisions and are clear on who the ‘owner’ is of each project.
The last 12 months have been challenging as we’ve navigated a global pandemic and working from home. We, like many, haven’t been back in our offices for 12 months. The three P’s have served us well in this time, we had to refocus the business, the team had to adapt and learn some new skills. They grew their capability, built their resilience muscle all whilst be polite, doing things properly and at pace.
