Polish biotechnology has had a remarkable year in 2024, solidifying its position as a key driver of innovation and economic growth. With continued investments and notable global recognition, the sector has built on the strong momentum of previous years, positioning itself for even greater achievements in the future.


Key Sector Growth

The 2023 data highlighted a significant increase in investment, with expenditures on biotechnology reaching 2.38 billion PLN, marking a 22% growth compared to the previous year. While 2024 figures are yet to be finalized, the growth trend suggests continued expansion, driven by increased funding and strategic initiatives.

Major Funding Milestones

The SMART Pathway program has been a contributor to this success. Out of 201 positively evaluated projects, 14 focused on biotechnology, receiving 200 million PLN in funding. This strong financial backing supports cutting-edge research and positions Poland as a competitive player in the global biotech market.
