Policies That Companies Should Improve For Employees In India

There are many IT, digital marketing, and advertising companies all over India. However, there are many policies and things companies should try to change for employees, not only females but also males. Here are a few things I came across:

WFO policy

This is an important policy that companies should try to change. Companies in india want all employees to work from the office, which I find very inhumane. There are many people like me who cannot go to the office, are not comfortable working in office premises, stay far away from offices, and cannot relocate or commute. I won't tell them to change policies for only one employee but to understand their situation. Employees who want to work from the office will definitely come but should allow those who cannot. I came across many posts on LinkedIn. HR’s just keeps on posting things as I came across an employee with this problem, and I solved it. I don't believe they give employees proof that you are thinking about employees. They just post this stuff to get followers and likes. If you and companies really start to understand employees, every company will have employees, and no person will stay unemployed. #allowwfh?

Timings?

In my experience, I came around many people who say companies have fixed timings and don't allow flexibility. There are some common timings like 10-7, 9-6, and 9:30-6:30. Although these are good timings, many employees are not comfortable. Many females and males stay alone, or females with families have to go home and cook for themselves and their families. Companies should allow flexible timings. They already have a 9-hour shift with 1-hour breaks, so why not provide 8 hours of flexible working and a break at whatever time they want? Not everyone wants 1 hour of break. Some people eat within 20 minutes or less. This will allow them to reach home, get fresh, and then cook for themselves and others.?

One more thing HRs post is flexible timings, like come at anytime between 10-7, 9-6, and 9:30-6:30 timings. I don't think these are flexible timings. Most of the company has these timings, either 10-7 or 9-6 there is nothing flexible in that. Flexibility is when they complete their 8-hour shift and leave. Many companies also don't allow employees to come late but expect them to leave late. Why? Why provide flexible timings when you want your employee to work overtime? Many employees say on LinkedIn that in the US, this has changed, but in india, it won't. This is our india is still a developing country. I ain't comparing, but don't tell you to provide flexible hours when you want your employee on time and leave late. Thats really unprofessional.?

6-days a week

This is worst in india. Our Indian companies want employees to work for less salary for 9 to 9:30 hours a day and work on Saturdays too. Many companies provide working hours of 9:30 and 10 hours because they provide holidays on Saturdays. What's the difference between working on Saturday and working 9:30 to 10 hours then, thats the same. Some say we provide alternate Saturdays, some say we provide WFH on Saturdays, and some say we have this many hours because we don't work on Saturdays. Sometimes, I wonder why people work in their company, but then I understand that everyone needs a job to survive, and they have to compromise everything to earn.?

I have also seen many companies posting on LinkedIn that they work till Friday and enjoy with their family on Sat and Sun. I want to tell that companies and HRs, your company is not unique of all, you provide what others do, bring something unique like fri half day, then your company will be unique of all.?

WFH and hybrid policy?

Many companies don't offer WFH policies because they think employees will not be productive. How productive are they in the office? Most of the employees are on the phone, engaged in talks, walking here and there in the office. I think giving WFH can make them productive because they won't have anything to do other than working and checking phones. Companies call themselves IT companies but don't have tools like time tracking to track employee productivity.?

Many companies also provide hybrid, which is good. But why provide hybrid and make them come to the office for 2-3 days and then WFH? I personally don't like hybrid policies. Because in this they have to go to office and then work from home. They have to work on 2 devices, like a company laptop or computer or their own laptop or computer. I also came across many companies that provide WFH, but employees have to come to the office to celebrate festivals and fun Fridays. That is not WFH to connect with other staff. Why provide WFH? People take WFH because they don't want to visit the office. They are not interested in celebrations and things, and about making relations with staff, they can do it online too while working as a team.?

Interviews?

This is also one of the worst things companies do to employees. They all call themselves IT companies and don't take interviews and assignments online. They think employees will cheat like what? If you are an IT company, you should know about online video calling tools like Skype, Google Meet, and Zoom. Take interviews on that and about assignments and make them do in Google Docs. It provides time tracking, and in MS Word, it's the same.?

They want employees to come to the office because they want to see them. Why? You want to hire by their face. They will show their face in video calls on online meeting tools. I heard many HRs say we can't understand their facial expression and confidence. You can check on video calls like you check f2f. I always decline companies that call for f2f interviews because they call me to the office and promise me the salary I want. And after giving tests and interviews, they say yes, you are good, but we have to teach you many things so we won't be able to offer you the salary you want. You can come with your current salary. Companies and HR are stupid to understand that employees change companies because they want a decent hike in salary, not because you are an MNC company and you will teach them everything. Employees get to learn new things, and in every company, you are nothing new.?

MNC companies should offer more salary to employees but they just want to use name and hire people. Then HR will try to manipulate you, leaving you a chance to learn with us. Many HRs have told me these things: you are declining MNC company, you are leaving a chance to learn with us, we will make you this in two years, we will give you a hike in 3 or 6 months. Why would I change my current company when I am comfortable working with staff here getting a decent salary and come to yours with the same salary and different staff only to learn new things? #stopmanipulatingemployees

Note: There are many other things I want to say, like salary negotiation, bonds, internships, more skills other than job requirements, leaves, relocate and commute, and some other policies, but this has become long, so I will post it on next Monday.?

These are my personal opinions. No company will change, I know. Share your reviews and policies you don't like, too!!

Thankyou for reading.?
