I am the greatest supporter of the police, but there have been far too many incidents of unjustified police shootings in which the officer(s) have been acquitted. I believe that law enforcement organizations should not be allowed to investigate themselves. The Internal Affairs units inside the organizations should be replaced with independent Inspector General (IG) units, similar to the arrangement in federal agencies. I have seen these IG units operate, and it's definitely the way to go.
