Police Officer Removing Pills

Not all of the facts are in this article, but it indicates the officer pocketed them during the national Rx take back day in late October. One of the first steps in any of these handling of prescription drug is that there are at least two people witnessing and sealing these drugs up. Similar safeguards are put in place when the drugs are retrieved for destruction or other transportation. This is done for obvious reasons, and it protects innocent folks too. I think sometimes we in law enforcement relax some of our procedures when we are involved with other officers not realizing that cops can be addicts, or traffickers too.

Having your body camera on either indicates how addicted this officer is and needs his hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and therefore wasn't thinking, or maybe he is just not a good thief! Regardless, he was in a position of trust that of course can't be tolerated.
