The Polarization - A Few Thoughts

Around the beginning of this millennium, in 2000, we perceived globalisation as a great leveller piggybacking on internet-based technologies.

We thought the people would get integrated across the world. People-to-people communications would increase manifolds.

Almost all goods and services that we would be consuming would possess multiple components from various origins.

There would be enhanced cultural exchanges.

We dreamt of our Earth as a global village.

Fast forward 25 years.

Today, in 2024, we expect to fulfil all the above dreams.

However, can we say today we are delighted to find those dreams fulfilled?

Can we say we are living in peace together in a global village?

Certainly not.

Ongoing conflicts are polarizing the nations.

There are economic divides among nations that are increasingly showing up.

Even today, resources are being distributed unfairly.

Currencies are being weaponized.

Cold wars and proxy wars continue unabated.

Nations are stockpiling lethal weapons.

There are a few powerful interest blocks that dominate the show.

The consequences:

The world is getting polarized today among many blocks.

>The Global South vs. the Global North.

>The NATO vs. others.

>THE G7 Nations vs. others.

>The Five-Eyes vs. others.

> and many more divisions.

This list is long.

I have a few questions here:

What has gone wrong?

Why have two major conflicts been raging for so long?

Why, over a period, many countries have been taking sides?

Why have nations been harbouring mistrust among themselves?

Why the 25 years of globalization efforts have failed to eliminate mistrust and division among the people of this global village?

While offshoring manufacturing and improving logistics, did the nations miss out on building people to people’s trust?

While maximizing profit, did the nations plan the delivery models based on one assumption, that,

EVERY HUMAN BEING IS A MACHINE?
