Pokemon Go Poodle stabbed to death with frozen ice cream

I wonder if when the axe was first invented there was a tabloid newspaper around to report, "Tree cutting tool used to hack husband to bits".
A tool may be made for one thing, but as soon as a sensational, primal brain pinging story can be associated with it, it will. Just as Pokemon Go is being framed in the narrative of macabre headlines of bodies, stabbings and death to sell news.
The more gentile and innocent the object the more sensational the story is. "Prize Poodle stabbed to death with frozen ice cream". Which of course introduces the element of making the victim non human (easier to justify reading), and the weapon a thing of joy and there is something about the word "frozen" that pushes the thought into the back of the brain.
And so buzzfeed type websites and news sites are focusing on any relation to death and Pokemon Go, because they know it pings our primal brain making it impossible to ignore.
How any regular blogger or website uses such techniques to market itself is endangering their brand and their promotion network. However, those who have brands and networks that relish such hard, negatively emotional news can and do take advantage of this.
There are of course positive ways to take advantage of the Pokemon Go craze and I shall be detailing these on my blog in the coming weeks. I have already posted a blog about content marketing and Pokemon Go but the craze is so huge and so fast moving that I intend to focus quite a bit of time on this to help businesses figure out how this new thing can help them.
