At this unprecedented time in history organizations around the world are grappling with suddenly having to run operations under extreme conditions where all or part of their workforce is working from home…for some this introduces a number of new challenges including managing productivity, positivity, motivation and focus,
The daily, even hourly, changes in the economic environment also mean that now more than ever, clear communication to roles in the organization is key. But, it’s not as simple as calling every one to gather on the floor or in your office anymore. You can’t ask people casually as they walk past whether they are up to date on changes….you won’t notice that one employee sitting, frozen at their desk, staring into nowhere with a look of foreboding on their face…or overhear the mother trying to keep her agitated voice down as she argues with her husband on the phone about how they will manage the kids being at home and still get work done and there is no budget for childcare...and oh my god, what if one of them loses their job?
All the visual, auditory and sensory input that you used to receive by virtue of occupying the same space as your team has vanished overnight. Add to that, this unfortunate conclusion from research by the most respected firms like Harvard Business review - that ‘Communication’ continues to be one of the biggest challenges faced by companies and one that prevents strategy from translating into action.
This adds another handicap to the minefield that we must traverse to meet our goals and objectives.
Unless.
What if we could support managers, supervisors and leaders by providing them a framework to improve communication with their team; maintain energy and positivity levels, and ensure that each employee continued to receive one-on-one coaching and mentorship to help them navigate these unsettling times?
What if we could empower the team with tangible, practical ways to translate the organization values and culture into daily working practice; into processes, policies and even language of communication?
What if these models of work result in more engaged employees, who are rallied behind the brand and the objectives because they believe in the purpose and values and feel that the organization reciprocates the loyalty to them and their personal aspirations?
What if these highly engaged and committed employees then translated their personal loyalty into compassionate, extraordinary experiences for the end customer and all vendors and partners. And what if they became more innovative in their passion to solve problems and find unconventional solutions that save time, money and improve the customer experience?
And what if, as a result of these changes happening fairly early on in the ‘Corona era’, the organization were to reap the benefits of higher productivity, better employee engagement, more efficient processes and higher customer lifetime value and profitability?
What if this organization were yours?
Wouldn’t this be worth the time, effort and money expended in providing that support at the right time?
Yes.
My thoughts exactly. So let’s get this show on the road, friends. It’s time for conscious leadership.
